Fab 'n' Funky - Anything with Die-cuts.
This week at Fab 'n' Funky, we are looking for your gorgeous makes that use die-cuts. It can be anything, a card, a layout or other off the page project, as long as it includes the use of die-cuts. I've used loads of die-cuts on my card this challenge. I stopped counting at 12!!
I made this for a family member who's expecting a baby right now and we're all so excited! I wanted to use this beautiful Elisabeth Bell image as it's so sweet and wistful. I've not used it before now, as she comes sitting in mid-air! I came across a stamp a blog buddy was selling that would be the perfect solution to my dilemma of how to 'seat her'. It's a Magnolia companion stamp - wooden park bench. So I masked the image and stamped the bench on top. It worked a treat! I was so pleased with the look. A little shading under her feet, a penciled in sky in the background and the image was set.
I used an older Nellie Snellen die to cut the pretty oval shape, which I matted onto another oval of blue card which I first distressed the edges of. The pretty card shape and smaller repeated mats are from the Go Create XXL dies range. This shape is called Frilly #10. I used a Marianne Design lamp post die and a bird, fence and birdcage die. I also used some rolled roses from the Marianne Designs line. I added pearls to the centres for a little extra bling. The flower at the base, is one I crocheted from a fine string. I really loved the look of this with the other rolled blooms. The little heart swirl branches are Magnolia.
The beautiful designer papers are some of my favourites and come from the Maja Design Summer Basics range. I really love the paisley design on this 1935 page. I mourn the fact that it's so covered up in this design! Which is why I usually go for a more pared back style. But I must say I'm pleased with this card.

I had my first go at using some Frantage to add some texture on this card. I added it only to the lamp post and bird cage and thought I was so clever until I realised it just looks like bird poop all over them! I nearly split my sides laughing! Oh well, better luck next time I try to add Frantage. I've added some muslin behind the mats for a little texture and a gorgeous gold organza bow. I cut the edge of the ribbon mat using another lovely Magnolia Doohickey called Romantic Lace.
The final touch on the card was the lovely wood chip heart with the word love in it. I was hunting for the perfect sentiment to finish the card, when I found this in my stash and had a happy 'Eureka' moment. This is from a fabulous Freckled Fawn set.
I was happy to hear that this make had arrived safely to it's destination and was so loved, there was talk of hanging it on the wall above the babies crib. Awww, isn't it lovely when one of our creations are so well received?!
Well that's it from me today. I'll catch you again tomorrow with another crafty moment. I hope you enjoyed popping in on this one and do head on over to the Fab 'n' Funky challenge to join in on our die-cutting fun and check out my DT sista's awesome makes while you're there! We have a fabulous prize on offer this week from Craft Classes Online, so go check it out. Hugs, Wends x
