Fab 'n' Funky - It's Still Our Birthday!

So we had so much fun celebrating our 5th birthday last week at Fab 'n' Funky, we thought we'd just keep partying and have decided to extend the celebrations for another week!

I have made a birthday card using a super sweet image by Kathryne called Sophie. I love these wistful sweet girlie images of Kathryne's. I find this one with her big eyes, sweet face and big bunch of daisies utterly enchanting.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers as always and took my cue from the daisies and blue-green foliage in making my paper choices. I decided to use a lovely bright yellow MME paper from The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine set. I had another paper pad on my table which was a magazine free gift, it has 3 cute blue, pink and orange owls on the front, but no brand name that I can see. Does anyone know which mag these came with? I flipped through and found two pages that were a fabulous colour match for the blue-green colour I'd used to do the grass and foliage, so I created my layout using those elements. I really must learn to use sketches, it takes me ages to decide exactly how to place, cut and arrange the papers! Even for such a simple design!!

The little sentiment shape came from the same MME paper pack as the yellow page, which I just inked a lovely Tina Wenke for Stampavie birthday greeting onto using my Versamagic Dew Drop chalk ink in a similar shade to the blue-green papers. I've popped a pale blue-green pearl in the 3 other corners and added a little yellow gingham bow from MeiFlower on the lace strip to finish the card. Both the circle and square dies are Lil' Inkers. I raised the picture layer on foam pads for a little dimension. It's a very quick and simple card, but I loved the fresh colours of the papers and had fun colouring this wee cutie up, so I hope your visit here brings you a smile and a little ray of sunshine to your day.
