Southern Girls - Celebrations
We have a big celebration at Southern Girls this week. It's our 100th challenge!! Woohoo! So this challenge, we're keen to see the cards you make for celebrations, that could be a celebration such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday, A New Job, A New Baby, and the list goes on. So you pretty much have carte blanche. Whatcha say? Wanna come and play? We'd love to see your interpretation of our challenge.
We have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge, the fabulous Lacy Sunshine Stamps, who are offering our lucky winner a wonderful prize.
The design team were spoilt to bits by our wonderful sponsor and we were allowed to choose a stamp each to play with in the challenge. Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year and my favourite celebration, so I wanted to make a Christmas card when the theme of 'Celebrations' was decided for our 100th challenge. I have used the gorgeous Rory's Christmas Tree for my card and I just LOVE this gorgeous image. It was really fun to colour up. I have gone for the Christmas pink theme again, sorry to be predictable. I just really wanted to colour her up in pink and I love the way it looks. I'll mix it up again next time though I promise! (I'm having a pink and white kinda Christmas this year!)
I've used a scrummy paper behind the image which is from a Panduro Hobby paper pad. I'm running out, I'm so going to miss having these pages! I love this pad. It's called 'Tis The Season. It's such an unusual colour combination, but I really like it.
I've used the most gorgeous Whimsy Stamps snowflake die on this card. I cut two and crossed them over on one snowflake. I added some pearls in different sizes just to bling it up a little and cut the flakes from shimmery pearlescent paper to add a bit more bling. The gorgeous Christmas sentiment is an Amy R Stamps set for CC Designs called Happy Christmas. I cut the sentiment frame using my Lil' Inkers stitched square die to match the machine stitching I did on the edge of the card. I do love the look of stitching on cards. I used a bigger die from the same set to cut the image and mat.
The blooms I've used are Wild Orchid Crafts. The Poinsettia petals come as individual layers, which I layered together with some frosted berries in the centre from Live and Love Crafts. I added a couple of pink fabric blooms, a small rose and two blossom flowers also from Wild Orchid Crafts. I curled the stems (which I'd cut off) from the fabric blooms and tucked those into the spray for a little interest.
I hope you'll come and join in our 100th challenge celebration at Southern Girls Challenge and show us your favourite celebration pieces. We look forward to seeing your interpretation. Do head over to the challenge blog too and check out what my incredibly talented team mates have been up to. I'll see you all again really soon. I have to dash, because (not to freak you out or anything, BUT) did you know there's only 27 days until Christmas! Eeeek, so much to do, so little time!! Big hugs, Wends x
