Sweet Stampin' - Black & White + One

Sliding into home base, with dirt on my face today. I've had such mad busy weeks in this lead up to Christmas and nope, I HAVEN'T finished my Christmas cards. I'm going to have to make them New Year cards now! LOL. But I've managed to pull together a card for our latest Sweet Stampin' challenge by adapting MelJen's 'Sweet Little Donkey' and turning him into a Zebra. Do you think my son will notice there's pink on this? Zebra's are his fav! He's growing up too dang fast. He'll be at school in 6 months time and the time is slipping through my fingers. I've so loved his baby years, but he's my baby no more! He's quick to remind me too, 'I'm a big boy now Mama'.

Our new challenge at Sweet Stampin' is Black & White (with a splash of one other colour). So when I was rummaging through my stash looking slightly feral and panic stricken, I came across this fab image of MelJen's Designs, which is actually a super cute lil donkey. I had a moment of madness or genius, depending on how you think of it, and figured this donkey looked an awful lot like a zebra, don't ya think? So I coloured him up that way and hey presto, Black & White - nailed it! After a few touches of pink to his ears and cheeks, I figured I'd make that my other colour.

I can't recall which paper pad I pulled that spotty paper from, so I'll have to come back to you with those details. But I just loved the stripes and spots together. I used a 'Go Create' die to cut the shape of the image and hand cut the pink mat. I edged the spotty paper with a layer of pink to tie it all in and I happened to have a little lamp sitting on my desk cut from black paper, which I'd done for a previous make and not ended up using. My lil' Zebra looked a little bare on his own, so I added the lamp for a touch of interest. I know the lamp is a little random, they don't have lamps in the Savannah, but it really was too bare without it, sigh. The sweet sentiment is from a lovely stash my baby sis gave me from My Mind's Eye.  I blogged about it recently, so you can find the details here.

Head on over to the Sweet Stampin' blog to see what my other talented teamies have been up to. It's a cool challenge theme, so come and join us for a some end of year crafty fun. We have two amazing sponsor this challenge, Di's Digis and Marianne Designs. Both with utterly fabulous prizes up for grabs!

I'm keeping it short and sweet today, yep, for me THIS IS short and sweet, LOL. It's Christmas ya'll!! I've got a million and one things still to do. But on that note, I wish you all a Christmas day filled with moments worthy of memories, pleasures that warm the heart and people you utterly adore. Huge Christmas hugs, Wends xxxx

Christmas is such a busy time for a Mum! There never seem to be enough hours in the day to fit everything in!!! One mad busy rush from morning until you collapse into bed at night...I remember it well! Still, it's all worth it in the end!
Your card is so cute... great idea to turn the little donkey into a zebra, and a very delightful zebra he makes! I think he likes his lamppost, none of his little zebra friends have one, it makes him feel special! Hopefully, you'll get away with the pink :) -although if your son is anything like mine was as a child - it will definitely be noticed!
Have a fabulous Christmas!
