Loves Rubberstamps - Die Cuts & Pop Art
Hey there my lovely blog buddies. I've a super busy week with DT posts this week, today it's time for a new challenge on the Loves Rubberstamps Challenge. Man I am LOVING hanging out with this talented crew. They really do create some incredibly inspiring projects. I so need to up my game! LOL. Make sure you pop on over to the challenge blog to check out their fabby creations.
We have an easy and fab challenge theme starting on the blog today chosen by our lovely Pam. It's use a 'Diecut'. Now who doesn't have at least one or two diecuts in their stash? So there's no challenge there really! We'd love to see where this takes you. I had a plan to use a sweet image from our sponsor 'The East Wind' and at the last minute had to change to a different image. So I, who usually has plenty of diecut options up my sleeve, had to really think 'outside the box' for how I was going to include a diecut in my envisioned card. Thanks to a little suggestion from hubby to tilt the image after I'd cut it, I think it all worked out rather well. This style is totally different for me. I don't play too much with ink, I'm a stamp and colour girl, so when thinking about what to do with this image, all I could think was ink, ink, ink! Most unlike me! I frankly don't know what's come over me! LOL. So there you have it, my very different, inky creation. I'd love to know what you think!
My fabulous Inkssentials Non Stick Craft Sheet got a good work out with this card. I usually use it to keep the distress ink I've inked the edges with and glue off my work surface, but today, the mat was part of the action! I swiped three distress inks across the sheet, which totally coincidentally were the exact three from the 2012 Spring Special Edition set of Distress Inks. I misted the inked mat with water so it would droplet a bit, moved the mat to give the ink some runs and merge them a bit and then laid the watercolour paper with the laser printed image over it and rubbed over the back keeping it very still, so I didn't turn the inks into one giant colour soup! I must say, I've never done this before, and this won't be the last time. It was so fun! I'm not a 'pop art' kinda girl, but I really did love making this. The image was a freebie offered by The East Wind in their June Newsletter. As it's still June, if you like it, you should so go sign up, their images are fab and you might still be able to snag it. Here's a closer look at the funky image itself.
