Sweet Stampin' - No White Card Bases

I swear someone has flipped the switch into double time lately. Time is just whizzing by! I hope you're all well and enjoying the fading summer days in the Northern Hemisphere. Here, down under, we are starting to see the beginning of Spring, but it's still chilly, though the blossoms and beautiful Magnolia's give us hope of sunny days soon to come. Now today, is the beginning of the new challenge at Sweet Stampin'. We have a fantastic theme this time and oh so simple! 'No White Card Bases'. Easy peasy, we just want to see some colour.

I've been so wanting to play with my Sugar Nellie stamps and have had no time to do so lately. So I was so pleased that we're being sponsored by Funky Kits for this challenge, I thought it was a great excuse to pull out one of my lovely Sugar Nellies. I think this image is so enchanting. She's called Amber and is from the Sugar Nellie Vintage Adorables range. I just love this image and thought she'd look fab with sunshine blonde hair, but it's not photographed well. There isn't such a stark contrast between the blonde hues in reality, so just squint when you look! Haha. Not sure how to get around that, I tried two different cameras, but oh well. So here are the two pics.

I used some pink Wink of Stella on the flower centres, which didn't show well in the above pic, so have added the pic below to better show the colour, sadly it doesn't show the sparkle though.

I love gingham, I'm crazy about it actually. I always have a red gingham tablecloth on the table, it's a wipe clean version for the kids and when we have guests it just gets swapped out for a cloth version! So I loved using the pink gingham for this card. I found a really lovely paper amongst some old magazine giveaways, and thought it would be perfect for this sweet image. I've used my MFT Blueprints 14 for the first time on this card too. Really should have pulled it out for a play sooner, have had it a while! But I love the way it came out and those of you who have this set can imagine I'm sure how many times I played with all the elements before settling on this layout! Love all the different bits, it's such a fab set. The lovely wooden hearts are from a Studio Calico set which you can find at SpiegelMom Scraps. My card base is a lovely heavy Kraft card from Anna Marie Designs

Well that's my sweet Sugar Nellie make in a nutshell. I think I'll try a darker hair colour next time after the issues I've had taking a decent pic, but the actual card is lovely, so no way it's getting binned!

I had one last try with my cellphone taking a pic, it was indoors and not great lighting, but actually, the hair looks much better and you can see the sparkle around the image and the shine of the Wink of Stella on the flowers in her hair.

Now do pop in to the Sweet Stampin' challenge to check out what my other awesomely talented teamies have been up to for this challenge and let a little colour into your creations and come join the fun with us. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, so see you then. Hugs, Wends x

Ooh, Wends, I'm really liking the way you've used the diecuts on this pretty card. I'm sure I've got some of these images on my computer... somewhere... Know what you mean about time flying by - it's only about 13 weeks to Christmas, apparently! Hugs xx

totally gorgeous Wendy. I can just imagine the beautiful hair colouring will look better in real life. Just hate it when the camera won't capture the beautiful colours - and it always seems to highlight that little spot or mistake you didn't see till you view the photo!

I know you said you had trouble with the photos but I think your card looks gorgeous, and the shading on the hair is lovely with beautiful depth of colour :-)

The gingham is brilliant; it always gives such a cosy feel to a card...and of course it's even better for being pink!

Big hugs, Kat xx
