Fab 'n' Funky - Keep it Square
Okay I know I keep saying this but did someone speed up the clock? I mean seriously! It's mid October, how did that happen?!! It's time for a new challenge over on the Fab 'n' Funky blog and we have a fantastic one for you today, because we're throwing the doors wide open, and you can make pretty much anything you like! As long as it's 'SQUARE'. Fab right? My favourite shape of card to make. Our lovely sponsors this challenge are Lacy Sunshine Stamps.
My lovely cousin turned 50 just recently and she had a beautiful party at her home, where the theme was purple. She had amazing lanterns of different shades of purple hanging from her marquee roof. It looked amazing. The guests were all encouraged to wear something purple too. So we all had great fun dressing for the event. Of course, I had to make her a purple card to match, so I thought this would be perfect to combine my purple card with our 'square' theme and this is what I made.
It had to be girly and gorgeous of course, so I went the shabby chic route with this one using my favourite gorgeous papers - Maja Design. I've used the 'B' side of the 10th April paper from Vintage Spring Basics. The sumptuous blooms are all from Wild Orchid Crafts bar the rolled rose which I made. The largest is a Gardenia, the lilac tipped ones are Hellebore, there's a cream Cosmo Daisy and tiny Roses. The pretty heart swirl is my favourite Magnolia Heart Swirl die. I used Hessian ribbon and wrapped it with lilac seam binding which I worked out how to tie a triple bow with, loved that.
I dotted some Stickles on the little roses and added a pearl to the centre of the rolled rose I made. I love the mulberry colour of that rolled rose and it fitted well with this card. I've had it sitting on my desk for weeks after not using it on a previous make. The lovely sentiment is from a magazine gift which had some Hobby Craft toppers and these gorgeous sentiment circles. I diecut the circle with a stitched die and matted it onto a Spellbinders Lacey Circles die.
I diecut the '50' with a really old quickutz number set and glittered the numerals with Stickles for a bit of extra bling. I've used my favourite corner die, which is from a Whimsy stamps set and added Pearls to the top two corners for extra interest. I've also used a pretty Joy Crafts Butterfly Border die, which I diecut from lovely pearlised white paper. I also cut a Go Create shape from the same pearlised paper to layer behind the purple lacey mat. Just under the ribbon I've added one of my favourite heart dies too, which is the Whimsy County Heart Die. The final touch was two tiny hearts which were diecut waste from the lovely heart die and the Magnolia flourish, which I added above the sentiment for added interest. Voila, fini.
Thanks for popping in today. I hope you've enjoyed the visit. I'd love to come by and visit you too, so be sure to let me know you stopped in. Do pop by the Fab 'n' Funky blog too, my DT sisters have been awesomely creative this week, so go check out their lovely makes. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Hugs, Wends x

As You Like It: Colour or Monochrome? Now I'm conflicted!! I really LOVE how this card turned out, which is rather monochrome, so you have me wavering now. I think I still prefer full colour, but had to share this, as I think it's a pretty lovely Monochrome make.
