Sweet Stampin' ~ Christmas in July
Hey there lovelies. Saturday has rolled around so fast this week! Which means it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' and boy do we have a good one for you this week. We are going to help you get sorted early for your Christmas card prep. Yep, this week, we're having a Christmas challenge. So pull out your favourite Christmas stamps and come join in the fun!
I've had a rummage through some of my older stamps and found this utterly gorgeous Humphrey the Elephant stamp called 'At Christmas' which was released as a series from Crafter's Companion a few years back. I just love this enchanting wee fellow. I have a series of books with Humphrey the Elephant by Sally Hunter which were my little boys favourite bedtime stories when he was a toddler, so Humphrey has a special place in my heart! I loved pulling out this stamp for a wee play yesterday. I wanted to use my distress ink markers for this make, so used watercolour paper, which has a really soft edge when you tear it, which I did to create a bit of texture on the image edge.
Our fabulous sponsor this challenge, is the wonderful Michele Roos Design. Her papers are amazing and this Christmas Time set is full of gorgeous traditional Christmas colours and imagery. I loved using this set for my creation. I wanted to use some of her lovely 'extras' from the set too, as they are gorgeous. So I've added a postcard, a sentiment circle, a couple of tickets and a paper bow. I added some stamping to the corner of the postcard using a Christmas postmark from a Lili of the Valley stamp set called Grunge Christmas Postmarks. I stamped 'Noel' on the second half of the top ticket with a stamp from the same set. A couple of really small details, which I think add that little finishing touch.
The rest of the Sweet Stampin' team have also used this gorgeous paper set by Michele Roos for their creations, so pop on over to the challenge to check out their take on the theme and please do come and join us with your own Christmas creations. Just remember you must use some 'stamping' to be eligible for the prize.
I think it's the perfect time to start creating for Christmas. It's the heart of Winter here in New Zealand, so I was in the mood for a traditional 'White Christmas' creation. I do love a Winter Christmas. I wonder if many of you have experienced a Summer Christmas like we have here in New Zealand? It's a bit different to say the least! Pavlova with strawberries and Summer fruits for Christmas dessert anyone? Yum! See you all again soon with another crafty adventure. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Wends xoxo

Closest I've experienced to a summer Christmas is when we went to Florida on boxing day several years ago...it was so weird seeing all the Christmas lights and decorations (and boy, were they impressive!) in bright sunshine!!!

Those gorgeous papers keep with the lovely vintage style and traditional feel to your design, and all the finishing details are just perfect...they really do make all the difference :-)
I have to say I can't imagine a hot sunny Christmas...but it would be fun to experience one day! Dr. Hubby does have family in NZ so it could happen!
Big hugs, Kat xx
Happy crafting
