Sweet Stampin' ~ Summer/Holiday Destination
Oh my goodness, how excited am I today?! We have the lovely Michele Roos sponsoring us for our new challenge at Sweet Stampin' and swoon, what lovely papers we got to play with this challenge. My awesome teamies have utterly kicked it out the park this challenge. So you have to go check out their fabulous creations with these gorgeous papers.
We have a fabulous theme this challenge ~ Summer/Holiday Destinations ~ so Michele's gorgeous 'By The Sea' papers were utterly perfect for our holiday themed creations. They are very 'nautical' in nature, but I think work well for any Summery holiday theme. So it was awesome to see all the different takes on the theme by the DT. Here's a peek at what I did.
I got my Tea Dye Distress Ink out for this creation. I added it liberally to the edges of the paper, and based my central design background on an 'old worn luggage' distressed look. I cut the central square mat with my Lil' Inker's Stitched Square die, then added a bunch of stamping around the edge to fill the white space. I printed one of Michele's tags in the elements set which you see poking out of the top left of the card behind the central square which I used foam pads to pop up and left a space for the tag to sit. On the back of that tag I stamped the sentiment you see in the bottom half of the pic above. I just thought this was so clever, 'There is no bag limit on happiness'. What a cool travel quote. I'm pretty sure I'll be using that again before long.
I used a fabulous stamp set that came ages ago now with a 'Get Stamping' magazine ~ Issue #3. The stamp set was called 'Life's An Adventure' and it had lots of fabulous holiday themed stamps, from elephants to mopeds! I used a couple of sentiment stamps around the sides of the central square and a round 'passport control' stamp. I should in retrospect have used a lighter ink as it takes away a wee bit from the central paper-pieced bag, but I still like the effect, I'd just ink it lighter next time. There was a ticket stamp in the set too, so I covered the edges of Michele's lovely tickets and added just the 'ticket' part of the stamp. You can see the full card in the following pic.
I printed Michele's tags in a teeny tiny version, so that I could add them to the backpack as if they were travelling luggage tags. I think they look fab and this is the joy of digital, you can shrink or expand the papers to fit your purpose. The pic above, I took before I'd actually added the shading to the bag. It's not a massive change, but I think it needed that subtle finish. The pic below shows the card with the shading on the bag and the tag taken out of the top left corner. So you can see I added that cute 'passport control' stamp to all four corners of the card base. They looked oddly bare when the rest of the card was so 'busy'.
Come on over and join in the 'Summer/Holiday Destinations' challenge at Sweet Stampin' and show us what inspires you in this theme. I can't wait to see your take on it. In the meantime, head over to the blog and check out what my awesome teamies did with Michele's gorgeous 'By The Sea' papers. Do stop in and check out what our lovely sponsor has to offer too. These are some of my favourite digital papers, so it's pure joy to use these for our DT creations. Huge thanks to Michele for her sponsorship.
See you all again soon with my next crafty adventure. Big hugs, Wends xoxo

I enjoyed SENZ - fewer vendors this year though.
All the soft colours and distress inking give it that lovely vintage feel...oh, it's just so stylish and I love it :-)
