Sweet Stampin' ~ Wheels

Hey there lovelies, flying in for a quick visit tonight, as I'm due at my brother's for dinner in an hour or so and still need to mix up the chocolate self saucing pudding! But very importantly, we are kicking off a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' tonight. We have a fab challenge theme ~ Wheels ~ so find all your gorgeous stamps that have wheels on them. Anything Goes (as long as there are wheels!).

Our fantastic sponsor this challenge is the wonderful Wild Orchid Crafts, who have a super gorgeous treat in store for our lucky winner, so come join the fun for a chance to win this gorgeous prize. Theirs were the first paper flowers I discovered early in my crafting adventure and are still my favourites. Go check out their gorgeous selection of blooms, gems and other gorgeous crafty embellishments.

I have had a busy week with the kiddos on Winter break which for the most part has been gorgeous fun, but was punctuated by a couple of sad days, with a family funeral and the 16th Anniversary of my precious daddy's death. The funeral the day before brought it all home for me rather heartbreakingly, but I pulled myself together today, put on my big girl panties and managed to make a very quick but rather sweet (I think) CAS card for our wheels challenge.

I found this fabulous hessian card base (already made up this way) in a bargain bin at a local papercraft store, there was no price on them, so I was hoping for a few cents only, when I got it to the counter, they couldn't make up their mind what to charge me, so gave them to me for free! Whoop whoop!! Best crafty bargain I've ever got! So it was fun to pull one out this morning and put together this quick make for tonight's challenge (it's night here in NZ!)

Both the image and the sentiment are from Unity Stamps. I have become utterly obsessed with their stamps lately.  They have many fabulous Sentiments and gorgeous images that can be coloured and many that are silhouettes. So super fabulous for those quick makes! I watered down some Distress Ink on a plastic palette and then watercoloured the sky. I tried to create a hill effect with the green ink and then had a go at putting a little crop of flowers with my Distress Markers, in the bottom left corner. This went horribly wrong once I added a few drops of water, but I guess that comes with this style. (Just nod your head, I'll figure it out eventually! LOL)

I decided to use a couple of woodchip elements to finish the card and added some Wink of Stella to the sunshine for the bit of necessary sparkle. A quick and simple card otherwise. Right, I better get to creating tonights pudding. So I'll leave you all with an encouragement to go check out what my madly talented teamies have been up to, no seriously, check them out! There are some FANTASTIC creations on the blog this challenge (as always). Come and have some fun with us too this challenge, it's sure to be 'wheely' awesome! Sorry, couldn't resist. I can't stand punny sentiments, but occasionally the mood just takes me! Big hugs to you all, Wends xoxo

That card base was the best crafty bargain ever! It's the perfect backdrop for your cute rustic design...the inky background and silhouette stamping look gorgeous framed by the hessian :-)
It's nice to hear you have been having fun with the kids on their break..ha ha, 'Winter' break sound so odd to me while it's Summer here, and right now it's actually really hot and feeling like Summer as well!
Big hugs, Kat xx
