Fab 'n' Funky ~ Fabulous Flowers
Hey there my lovely blog buddies, I know, I know, long time no post! It's a long story and I've been uber busy, but all is well, just helping out a friend and will be back to the usual broadcast in early December. But for now, I'm just sneaking in to host my challenge on the Fab 'n' Funky blog. I've been seriously short of creative time these past few weeks, so it's just as well a sweet pal asked me recently to create a birthday card for her mummy. It fits the bill perfectly! I chose the theme 'Fabulous Flowers' for my challenge and I'm really hoping people will add more than just floral paper to their creations. I would love to see some paper or fabric flowers on entries for this challenge.
The sentiment is of course a Lili of the Valley large sentiment from Set 61 - Quotables - Celebrate. I really like these big sentiment sets, there's a great variety for a number of different occasions and even better they've just brought them out as digi sets! So there's lots of room for creativity with that option. I used the clear stamp for this card and Memento ink in Rich Cocoa.
I was in a rush to get this card to my pal for her mummy's 70th as I had a mad week that week, so in my haste, I forgot to take pics! Thankfully, my pal had time to take some for me before giving it to her mummy at her gorgeous high tea party. I worked this into the theme of the card, by adding a little Whimsy Teapot and a few teacups cut from the pretty floral paper. My pal also told me they were giving her mama a beautiful Parisian themed book and if I could work that into the card too, she'd be thrilled. So I went for a pretty shabby chic style, with flowers and ribbon and pretty papers, which fit the Parisian theme beautifully! The papers are Craftwork Cards - Postcard From Paris.
I used another page from the same paper set to create the little postcards. I've inked everything with Distress Ink in Tea Dye, including the pink paper flowers as they were a little bright when I first put them on, so the Tea Dye just softened their colour a bit. I think it looks fab. I cut the mat for the sentiment from a copper card stock and used the same cardstock to cut the '70' which was the final request from my pal for her mama's card. I think I met the brief pretty well. The numbers are from an older Quickutz set for the hand tool.
I also decorated the inside of the card with the same paper as the front and inked the edge of the circle with Tea Dye again. I used a Kaisercraft Postmark Stamp to add a little interest to the bottom of the writing panel. I used a lighter Memento ink for this, called Desert Sand. The pretty card shape I cut with my favourite Go Kreate Frilly #10 die. I love this card shape and I think it's perfect when wanting to create a slightly more 'special' finish to a card.
We're being sponsored by my favourite craft store ~ Live & Love Crafts for this challenge. I'm crying in my coffee right now as the lovely Sandy has decided to close up shop. So this is one of your last opportunities to get some of her gorgeous crafty goodies! So grab all your lush blooms and gorgeous shabby chic goodies and join us for some floral fun. You can use floral paper but it's those paper & fabric blooms I'd really like to see on your cards.
I will be super busy from now until the beginning of December. So next time I share, it's very likely to be a Christmas card!! Can you believe there's only 66 days until Christmas?! That's 9 1/2 weeks! Eeek!! I've a lot of shopping to do!!! Hugs to you all until I can get back here again, Wends xoxo
