Fab 'n' Funky ~ Create A Background

Hey there lovelies, it's time for a new challenge over on the Fab 'n' Funky blog and our lovely hostess Troppostella has chosen the theme, 'Create your own Background'. You may use a background stamp or create one with inks or other paper techniques. Whatever tickles your fancy!

We are being sponsored by the fabulous Little Miss Muffet Stamps for this challenge and the DT were given some lovely background stamps to work with. I chose to use the very sweet 'Dream Dangle', which I remembered I had the perfect Unity Stamps sentiment to pair with it.

I got inky with my Distress and Oxide Inks to create the inky wash background and then added a layer of Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist in Chalk to give the card a lovely sheen. This doesn't show well in some of the pics sadly, but when the light catches it, it's really pretty. I masked off the sentiment as I didn't want any large droplets to obscure the lettering, but it came out as such a fine mist, it just went on as an all over sheen, rather than the larger droplets I had intended, so pretty though, so I wasn't unhappy.

I did want to add some white paint splatters, but couldn't find my gesso! So I left it at just the Glimmer Mist. I did add some Stickles to the stars and some Glossy Accents to the hearts after I inked them with a couple of purple Promarker colours. Finally I added a yellow grosgrain ribbon and some purple scatter stars, as I felt it just needed something to tie it all together. I had intended not to add those last two embellishments, but to be honest, they made all the difference and really elevated the look of the card, so I'm so pleased I kept playing.
