Whimsy Stamps ~ July New Releases ~ Day 3

Hey there lovely crafty pals. I'm here again with my second creation for the July New Digital Release at Whimsy Stamps. Oh my goodness, is there some lovely stuff being released this week! I'm gonna be broke!! If you didn't catch my first creation you can scroll back to take a peek at one utterly adorable ice-cream eating penguin. But today, I'm sharing another adorable penguin. Allow me to introduce 'Penguin Campfire'.

I decided I wanted this image to be all about the fireside glow. Some of my teamies have coloured incredible fireside glows, which shine on this sweet penguin's face. Mine has a slightly wider reach! But I have to say, when I finished colouring this rather daring glow, I was so happy with the result! I will definitely try the more subtle fireside glow in future, but as a one off, I am really happy with this. I seriously want a roasted marshmallow now!

I have had this little tent die in my stash for soooooo many years and never used it. So when this sweet image came up, I knew straight away I wanted to work this lil' tent into the design somehow. I cut it twice. Once with the woodgrain paper I used to mat the card and create the photo corners and then a second time with kraft card. I cut away the pegs on the craft card version, so that the lil' wooden pegs would show through. Love this!

I used a brand new paper set as the background papers. I LOVE the green of this beautiful paper set. The stripes and maple leaves are so lovely together. I wanted to use both, so I used a Whimsy Stamps shaped border die to cut the maple paper in two and added this overtop of the stripy paper. I think it's really cute having the stripe show through. I coloured the penguin's hoodie to tone with the papers using my blue green Copic Markers. I added little photo corners to the image as I wanted it to look like a photo in an album or scrapbook page. This design has inspired me to want to do some memory keeping for my kiddos! So many photos, so little time!
