Fab 'n' Funky ~ Add A Button

Hey there lovely pals. It's Wednesday, so time for a new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky and this week we have a super fun theme of 'Add A Button'. I made a sweet shaped card for one of my little nieces over in Australia. I found the cutest Owl themed presents for her birthday, so I decided to make her a card and a couple of tags to match!

The little tags were made using a magazine freebie die from Papercraft Essentials #123. The little owls are so cute and there are so many possibilities of how to use this cute set!

The bigger owl I cut freehand using a template I'd googled and added all the bits together to create the finished project. I used buttons for the eyes on this larger owl and it worked brilliantly for our fabulous theme this week, chosen by our lovely blog hostess Wendy. Check out her gorgeous crafty site, she is one crafty lady who knows what to do with buttons! I love her designs.

The gorgeous papers I've used to create both the tags and the larger owl card are a much older First Edition paper pad called Summer Breeze. These were such lovely papers and I'm coming to the end of my stash, so I'm hoping to find some more! I do love digital papers from this standpoint, print on demand, suits me so well!

Here's the wee cutie with the wrapped parcels. One parcel contained two little owl shaped suitcases and the other a sweet owl shaped cushion, which was why I needed two little tags. I used some rustic twine to wrap the presents and added the wee owl tags with a tiny clothes-peg. I think that's such a fun way to finish a parcel.

I went a lil' owl crazy and used some pink owl wrapping paper I had, which in retrospect, the card and tags would have looked better without that additional element. It's a little 'loud' in the photos, hehe. There is definitely something to be said for the 'less is more' philosophy sometimes.

I'm really pleased with how this crafty adventure came together and how close I was able to get the look, to the presents. I love owls, and had such fun creating this wee set. It was a super fun way to use buttons I think!

I hope you'll come and join us this week for our 'Add A Button' challenge at Fab 'n' Funky. I'd love to see how many innovative crafty ways others use buttons in their crafting.

This post will be the first of two today, as I have my Whimsy Wednesday post to share with you a little later, so be sure to pop back for that. In the meantime, have a fabulous day and I'll see you again really soon. Hugs, Wends xoxo

Oh Wends what a fabulous trio, and I love those eyes! The way the top photo is staged I thought the owl had a 'doily crown' at first glance.
