Whimsy Stamps ~ Steps to Serenity
Hey crafty pals, I hope you're having a good day. I'm back to share the third of my New Release creations for Whimsy Stamps latest Digital Release. I've used the second set of brand new sentiments called 'Steps To Serenity' to create this card along with some fun clear stamps to create the background design.
I wanted to give the card a playful feel, so used the sweet companion stamps in the Gnomies Clear Stamp Set by Krista Heij-Barber to stamp the background flowers. I love this set and must pull those gnomies out for a play too, but for this creation, I just wanted the sweet flowers. I used the 'so kind' sentiment from the 'You Are Clear Stamp Set' by Denise Lynn and the little heart stamp from the same set to finish the background design. I used mulberry coloured ink for a tone on tone effect.
I printed the sentiment on white card stock in black laser printed toner ink and then foiled the design with Deco-foil in Bronze. I really love this Bronze foil, it's a lovely shade and is my current fav' for foiling designs. There's an elegance to it for sentiments.
I added a little interest on the side of the card with a little remaining doily from a previous creation. (You may recall the blue floral paper card I posted recently.) I kept that little bit of doily I trimmed from that creation and it was the perfect fit with a little further trimming to fit the card shape for this design. The pretty card shape was created with a Wavy Stitched Squares Die from Whimsy Stamps. I had die cut a whole lot of leaves in green vellum from a Whimsy Poinsettia Die for another make, so added a few to this card as well and with a little baker's twine and layered stamping of an older floral set from Whimsy, my card was complete. I shaped the layered flower and used a good dollop of Olba glue behind it, so it sits with a nice rounded middle on the card. This added a bit of dimension and interest to this simple design.
Thanks for popping in to visit today. I hope you enjoyed seeing the process of this creation. It was really fun creating the background for this and I think I'll do this more as I've so many little companion stamps which lend themselves so well to this technique. Click through on the banner below if you've not yet taken a peek at the full Digital New Release, it's fabulous.
I'll be back again very soon with another crafty adventure, but in the meantime have a wonderful week and stay safe in your bubble. Hugs xoxo
