Whimsy Stamps ~ Yikes, People!
Hey crafty friends, I'm back with the second of my Summerween creations. I think this may be the cutest lil' mummy I've every seen, even if he does look a little spooked!
If you follow my IG channel, you may recall seeing the process for this background I created. I used the Whimsy Stamps Rainbow Landscape Layering Stencil to create the sand dunes and I inked a soft sunset scene above. You can check out my process for all this over on this IG post. I diecut the inked scene with the Whimsy Terrific Slim Tickets Windows Die Set, so I could layer this scene over the base, cut with the Terrific Slim Tickets Die Set. These are such cool additions to Whimsy's Terrific Tickets Line this year.
I diecut this fun Yikes die from light blue scrap cardstock from my stash, that I inked the lower half of with Distress Oxide Ink in Blueprint Sketch. I chose Blueprint Sketch for the lower half, to tie in the brighter blue I'd chosen to colour up this cute mummy's water ring.
I found a really fun combo of sentiments to match this cutie's facial expression. His mummy wraps give him such a fun scaredy-cat face. He looks a little traumatised to be honest! So I thought I'd add some fun sentiments and give this card a sarcastic twist. I love a little sarcasm, my hubby is fluent in it, in the best and funniest way!
I cut the awesome Terrific Slim Tickets frame for this card from Craft Consortium Duck Egg Blue Glitter Cardstock. I matched the frame colour with some waves I'd coloured up with the Distress Spray Stains Winter Frost and Phantom Mist. I coloured first, then diecut the waves with the Kinetic Straight Waves Die Set. This is such a cool die set. The row of waves in the front is actually the off-cut from the waves behind, so fun they can do double duty! I mounted the finished ticket panel onto a slimline card base created with Sizzix Brushed Metal Opulent Black Cardstock. It's white inside, so works great for a card base.
The final touch to this fun creation, was to add this cutie up on an action wobble. So he looks as if he's bobbing about on the waves! I'll have to do a reel to show this in action, it's on the 'to do' list. I did reinforce his drink to ensure the stem didn't break whilst he's wobbling. I used a little strip of acetate behind, running the length of the glass and down to his hand, just for a bit of stability. I had trimmed very close with my fussy cutting, so wanted to make sure there were no wobble casualties! I wanted a close crop on my image, so fussy cut this, but I love that there are matching dies available!
Do go and check out what all my teamies get up to with this fun set! You can check them out over in the Whimsy Stamps FB Group or on the Whimsy Stamps IG Channel. (I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
