Whimsy Stamps ~ Butterfly in Green

Hey crafty friends, if you spotted my last two posts, you'll see I've been back in the craft room enjoying some colouring! I'm convalescing after some dental surgery, so quietly catching up on some posts today, but happily had these cuties all ready coloured and made up into cards, so I could do the posts while I'm taking things a little easier. This sweet set from Sylvia Zet's newest release includes two really sweet butterflies. I shared the first of these two cuties yesterday and I'm back today with this lil' cutie.

I loved that this cutie is holding Lily of the Valley flowers. I added a tinge of green to them so the white would be accentuated. I coloured the image with Copic Markers and a wide range of greens, to give a really green nature vibe. I wasn't sure what colour to opt for, for his body, and had already decided on the gold cardbase, so pulled out some goldy tone markers to match. I think this turned out so cute! I did add some Clear Glitter Brush Marker detailing to the wings, which in the right light shimmer sweetly.

This sweet sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamps Magical Birthday Wishes Stamp Set. There are some really fun and sweet sentiments in this set, but I felt this was a good choice for this sweet image. I stamped it with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink directly on the image panel.

I completed the card design by layering the lovely image panel over a toning green Glimmer Cardstock from Scrapbook.com. It was a great match for the greens I'd used in the image. I pulled some lace out of my stash which I thought would make a nice border for this cutie and pulled out my iridescent cord from Simon Says Stamps to wrap a few times around the image panel and tied a simple bow to complete the card.

I captured a few of the pen combinations during my process, so thought I'd share those here. For the body of the butterfly I used Y28, 26, 23 and 21. There were lots of greens, feel free to pop the image up full size to see the pens better or message me if you want further details.

I kept both of these butterfly cards quite clean and simple. It was all about the images and the colouring I took time to really enjoy doing. I love how these two sweet cards turned out. If you missed the earlier one I shared, you can find that here. If you missed the recent Whimsy Stamps release, you can check that out via the banner above, it's a really fun Western themed one! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and to the mamas out there a very Happy Mother's Day. Hugs, Wends xoxo
