Sweet Stampin' ~ Things With Wings

Hello my lovely crafty pals, it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' and this week, we have the lovely theme of 'Things With Wings'. I was worried I'd not have time to create for this theme, so raided my back catalogue of unblogged cards (yep, I have one and it's extensive!) and I found this sweet Bildmalarna card I'd made some time back and never blogged. I love this image, it's enchanting, but I tried a new technique at the time and I'm not sure I nailed it, so never blogged it at the time. But part of the journey with crafting is trial and error right?! So I'm sharing this as a fun attempt at the white line stamping with watercolouring, that I didn't in all honesty pull off. But I am not one to waste or toss my creations. So I'm sharing it with you now as part of my creative journey.

I must pull out this stamp again and try it with Copics, which I'm much more comfortable with, because it is a gorgeous image and it was nice to revisit this creation.

I did find time to create for this challenge in the end, I was actually crafting for one of my lovely friends to celebrate a big birthday and had an 'aha' moment that it actually fit this challenge perfectly. So here, is my second creation for this challenge. A beautiful celebration of my lovely English crafty pal, who just celebrated her 60th Birthday.

I adore this beautiful image and love the wistfulness of it. It's so pretty and delicate as are all the A Day For Daisies images Tammy draws. There's such an enchantment to them! I paired the image with a lovely sentiment from Whimsy Stamps from a sweet Mermaid Stamp set.

I had some sweet tiny heart sequins in a mix, that I thought would look lovely scattered around this image and I added lots of subtle sparkle, which the camera never wants to catch, but tilted in just the right light above, you can see the little touches of sparkle.

I've used some beautiful Maja Design paper to create this card, so you know the recipient is special, because this is my stroke only stash! Hehe. I added some beautiful lace and a few copper coloured pearls. The final touch I added to this card was the acknowledgment of this very special big birthday, so I added a '60' in a beautiful satin sheen rose gold coloured cardstock. I cut the 60 in a sparkly chocolate cardstock, a satin sheen gold, a sparkly champagne and a sparkly copper, but this rose gold by far was the nicest with these papers, so that completed the card nicely.

Thanks for popping in to visit, I hope you enjoyed my retro creation for this challenge and my new one for my lovely pals birthday. I only hope the card made it to her before this goes live! Do come and join our 'Things with Wings' challenge if you can, it'd be so lovely to see what you're inspired to create!

I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, but right now, my stash is all boxed up and hard to reach in our spare room, as we're having the carpet replaced downstairs, so I'll have to keep my creations pretty simple for the next wee while. That'll be a challenge in itself! Big hugs, Wends xoxo

Two very different card here Wends- both gorgeous! I think you're being far too hard on yourself with the first one- the techniques you've used with this sweet image have such a lovely soft effect. so delicate and magical.
The second card is beautiful, such a lovely image and wonderful colouring. The design and papers are pretty while keeping the focus on the image.
Hope all is good with you and yours
