Whimsy Stamps ~ Surprise!

Hey crafty pals. The days are crazy fast for me right now, trying to pack up a five bedroom house and fit it into four! So I'll try to be brief, as really need to be packing still. Today marks 9 years home in New Zealand from the UK for us and here we are on the move again! I am sharing today, a cute card I made for my cousins 50th Birthday Surprise Party. We weren't able to attend due to Covid lockdown restrictions, but we could send a card right?! So this creation was inspired by his big birthday and was well received.

I had fun colouring up these beyond adorable bunnies by the amazing Crissy Armstrong! They've all been fussy cut very closely, so no white border shows. I find it infinitely better to use my crafty knife to do this style of fussy cutting, rather than scissors and I love how seamlessly they sit in their surrounds this way!

I used the companion stamps with these cute bunnies, the party hats and the birthday cake, to create this scene. I fussy cut them and added them over the bunny images. I used foam to add the cake for a little added dimension. I also added little shadows below the cake and bunnies with Copic Markers, so they looked like they were sitting in the scene more realistically. Amazing what a little shadow can do!

I wanted the two bunnies on the side to look as though they were hiding behind the trees, ready to pop out and say 'Surprise'! So I actually cut the amazing background paper slightly along the tree line, to tuck this cutie in behind. I also wanted his lil' face to be on the front side of the tree, so cut along his jawline, to fit his face over the tree. Sounds convoluted, but actually is really easy and finishes the look well.

It was a little tricky with the hats having really delicate details on the top, no way to fussy cut those! So I stamped the hat directly on the paper, and then added the fussy cut hat over matching up the lines. I also added some sparkly silver details with a Gelly Roll pen, for a little extra sparkle. I used this technique for the bunny shown above and the one in the central pic.

We are running a challenge on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group at the moment, which will run until the end of February. The Treasures Team are showcasing some of these lovely sets above over January and February, so our challenge is to share these creations with you. You can join in with any creation using a Whimsy Stamps image, however if you use the stamp sets below, you'll be entered into the prize draw twice! There's a $25 Whimsy Stamps Gift Card up for grabs. You can enter with any Whimsy creation, but we'd especially love to see your creations with 'these' sets.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I'm off back to the packing, sigh, SO much craft stuff to wrangle and that's today's job! (...and probably tomorrow and the next day's too!) So I need to dash, but wishing you a super gorgeous, healthy, happy, crafty day! Hugs xoxo

Oh Wends, I hear your struggle - I went from a three bedroom house and studio space to basically two bedrooms (in a rental) until DD's extension/renovation is done, when I will have two rooms and an en-suite in the "Queen's Suite"!
Loving this fun scene you have created, especially the bunnies popping out from behind the trees.
Stay safe
Blessings

Sounds like your life is incredibly stressful atm hunnie, so I'm sending you a huge hug.
However your card is gorgeous, I just love how the bunnies are sitting around and poking their heads out from the trees. I love it xx
