Whimsy Stamps ~ Sweet Unicorn Dreams
Hey there crafty friends, I'm back with a sweet creation I've made for one of my wee nieces who turned 4 in January. She has Covid now, her whole family does, so I thought a little 'get well' card would be just the ticket to help her through. To be fair, they're doing pretty well, it's a mild dose by all accounts, so they're very fortunate.
How sweet is this wee unicorn? I wanted him to remain a 'white' unicorn, but didn't want to use greys to colour him. So I inked him up in Mememto Desert Storm Ink and then softly added shadows and details with pale warm E coloured Copics. I made the tail and mane rainbow coloured and added some sparkly pen details here and there. I think he is the dreamiest, sweetest wee unicorn. Crissy Armstrong sure knows how to draw the most enchanting wee characters!
The fun background I created with a fabulous stamp set from Whimsy's FaDoodle range. Faye Wynn-Jones is the Queen of card doodling. She's amazing, especially given I cannot doodle at all! So Whimsy has brought out a range that celebrates all her fabulous doodling skills! This sweet rainbow set features the cutest little doodled rainbow, which I've used to stamp the repeating background. I used a multicoloured ink pad, (because that was one of the early things unpacked out of the crafty boxes from our shift!)
I used a woodchip sentiment which I coloured pink with alcohol markers and then added a bit of sparkle too. It took 3 tries to get the right pink! I think the stitched detail from the border dies adds such a lovely finish to the layered panels. A simple but lovely die set, which adds just that little bit of interest needed.
It has been such a long week, I'm glad to be at the end of it. We had to test our little dude for Covid late last week, as he was complaining of a sore throat and there are cases at his school. So New Zealand is well and truly in the thick of it now. We have thousands of cases popping up daily. Happily Zac's test was negative and he's bounced back from whatever ailed him very quickly. We have a 50th birthday to attend tomorrow and I have to confess to feeling a little nervous about it. People we wouldn't normally mingle with and a crowd of about 30, so we will be exposed to several bubbles tomorrow. But this is one of our besties and we really want to be there to celebrate him. I've made a hilarious card for the occasion, which I'll share soon.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this crafty adventure today. I'm so grateful for your visit. My heart and mind are so with the people of Ukraine right now, it feels strange to be 'going about our business' unaffected. But I have found solace in creating and in the creations of others supporting the Ukrainian people and encourage you if you've not found it already, to check out the beautiful Sunflower that Jennifer Dove has drawn and is currently being given free via our Whimsy Stamps Facebook page. It's beautiful.
I'll be back with another crafty adventure soon. In the meantime, if you create with this beautiful Sunflower above, be sure to share it with us over on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook page and be sure to add it to our challenge too. It's gone live and we're looking forward to lots of gorgeous entries! Stay safe out there, there's far too much crazy going on in the world right now. Do visit Yana's blog if you're looking for a way to help our friends in Ukraine. Hugs xoxo

This Covid is nasty - thankfully we have had no one in the family affected to date.
