Whimsy Stamps ~ Sweet Baby Girl

Hey there crafty friends, I'm back as promised with my last Whimsy creation for June. I have a few still to share, but I'm running out of days, so will share those in July. Can you believe we're almost half way through this year?! Crazy! I'm here today with a sweet creation I've made to celebrate the birth of a baby girl. I absolutely adore Crissy Armstrong's stamp set with the woodland creatures and the latest Whimsy paper set I bought recently has the most beautiful colour combinations. I just thought these would be a really nice pairing for this baby make. The paper has this pretty peach colour in it which I wanted to draw out, so I ink blended my white card base, just on the top half with Dried Marigold Distress Oxide Ink to tone in with the paper. I must say I love how this turned out.

If you know me well, you'll know I adore pretty papers and love to create designs with show them off as much as possible, rather than cover them too much with embellishments. I couldn't bare to throw away the trimmed layers after diecutting my shaker frame for this card, so I just cut twice again with stitched frames that fit nicely together and layered them up from the base to the shaker window adding an extra layer of foam on the last layer. Thin foam strips work really well for frame layers like this. I really love this look of dimension.

I stamped the sentiment straight onto the patterned paper using Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink which I then clear heat embossed. I used a sweet combination of sentiments from the Before and After Stamp set to create the combined sentiment.

This enchanting image is by one of my favourite craft artists. Crissy Armstrong draws the most enchanting images and this set in particular has a little of my heart! The set is called Woodland Critters and has several equally charming characters. I thought this sweet bunny was such a good fit for a new baby make. I stamped this sweet image in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then coloured this cutie with my Copic Markers. I then fussy cut it very close so as not to have any white border showing. I find my craft knife infinitely easier to fussy cut like this rather than scissors.

The final touch in this creation was of course the lovely shaker elements. You may recall I cherry picked toning sequins from the lovely Rainbow Magic Confetti Mix from This Calls For Confetti for the slimline shaker I did recently. You can take a peek at that here. There's such a generous amount of shaker elements in these sets that even with the larger window I had for the slimline card, I still had plenty of shaker elements left to use for this card. So the elements which hadn't toned well for the slimline card, were perfect for this! The purples, apricots and mix of pinks and soft blues worked so well for this card. I didn't use the rainbows, I've set those aside to add to a new batch when I reorder as I think this shaker mix is just lovely.

Thanks for popping in today. I hope you're having a lovely week. I have a commission to work on tomorrow for my brother who is heading overseas this weekend, for a friends wedding, so I'll leave this post here, so I can prep that.

I will be back again in early July with several new creations which I've been working on with some gorgeous new items in my stash. Wishing you a wonderful remainder of your week. Sending extra love to one of my crafty besties too who is undergoing some radiotherapy this week. You know who you are, sending you big hugs and lots of positive vibes! See you all again soon xoxo

Oh Wends this is exquisite - love the way you have made the most of the gorgeous paper, and the shaker element just adds so much to the sweet baby card.
