Whimsy Stamps ~ L'Amour
I hope you've had a gorgeous Valentine's Day. Ours was spent feeling very blessed and lucky not to have been blown away by the Cyclone here in New Zealand. So I'm a little late sharing this, but wanted to share these sweet love themed cards I've created. I hope you've enjoyed your 'day of love'. I know it has become such a commercial affair, but I still love the idea of people celebrating love all around the world! I'm ever the romantic and besides I've been watching Emily in Paris, so I'm all swept up in the romance of Paris! I've channelled some of this into my two creations I'm sharing with you today.
This FaDoodle Hearts Stamp Set is one of my favourites for creating playful backgrounds for love themed cards. Whether it's romantic love or platonic, this set works for all. For the first card above I've used red, pink and black ink to randomly stamp a mix of the larger and smaller hearts from the set to create a fun playful background.
I added tiny little black sequin hearts from an older sequin mix from This Calls for Confetti to finish the background, then added a large diecut sentiment which I layered up three times for a bit of dimension and interest. This large word die is fabulous for a full card front like this, a real scene stealer!
My second card, I used another sweet stamp from the set which features four little intertwined hearts. I thought it would be fun to use this as a background filler, alternating between red and pink, which I know there's an old fashioned idea that red and pink should never be found together, but I actually really love this combo. I used Kitsch Flamingo for the pink and Lumberjack Plaid for the red on both these cards. They're a lovely combination. I finished the card design with another diecut sentiment. I used three sets to get the combination I wanted. I added tiny little silver hoop sequins from the same older sequin mix from This Calls for Confetti that I used for the previous card. This confetti set from last year was called Messages of Love and was a perfect fit for these cards.
The Crazy word die is a stand alone word die and is fabulous for so many sentiments, the 'for', I took from a Halloween Die Set I have which actually has the words 'Foolish Mortals', but a bit of creative cutting and sticking and it filled the gap perfectly. The 'you' is from a Thank You Die Set, which die cuts the two words separately, so was easy to use on its own here.
I also layered up the diecuts with two white sets underneath to add that little bit of depth and dimension that really helps the piece feel finished and professional. It is hard to see in these photos, but this card has a little vellum heart behind the diecuts. I added this to separate the words from the background a bit, which it does, subtly. It's a lovely feature best appreciated up close. There are tiny sequins added to complete the card, which again, shiny and lovely up close, hard to capture in stills.
I've had such fun creating with this lovely FaDoodle Hearts Stamp Set. I love the doodled design of it, I cannot doodle to save myself, so gravitate towards Faye Wynn-Jones fabulous FaDoodled Sets to get this look. So happy to have this option!
Thanks so much for visiting today. Can you believe we're half way through February?! I hope you enjoyed seeing a little of my crafty journey today. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, so watch this space. Hopefully that's the end of our storms and we can actually have some sunny weather for the rest of our Summer. Wishing you happy days and lots of crafty fun. Stay safe friends. Hugs xoxo

Challenge Entry:
As You Like It: Love or Friendship ~ Well I'm torn on this one! I've actually made one of each. They're 'love' cards, but one is a get well card for a friend and the other is a Valentine's card, so I'm firmly on the fence with this one! Hehe. I hope that's okay. If I'm forced to choose, I'd say I make more friendship cards, than romantic love cards.
