Whimsy Stamps ~ Under The Stars
Hey crafty friends, I'm back with a fun Summer themed card using some cool camping themed elements. I started off by ink blending a panel to create an evening sky background. I used Black Soot, Blueprint Sketch and Broken China Distress Oxide Inks to blend the background.
I splattered the panel with watered down Metallic Frost ink from Scrapbook.com and some Hero Arts Shimmer Mist. I had an ink blended strip of green left over from a previous make, so diecut that twice with a grass edger die from Whimsy, to get two small strips to add to the base that the tent would be pegged in.
I diecut the tent and sentiments and set about putting it together, with the darkest 'black' strip on the inside as this would be completely in shadow. I chose a lighter colour for the front flaps and a navy blue for the main part of the tent. Before adhering them, I ran my Lost Shadow Distress Ink along the outside flaps of the tent, as if there were some moonlight reflection on them. I diecut the Happy Camper sentiment from the same navy cardstock and twice from Licorice Black cardstock which I used to layer up the sentiment. Then adhered all the layers and added them to the cardbase.
Finally, I diecut all the little elements I needed from the Boho Moon Die Set and trimmed the dangling arms off the moon, as I wanted to use it without these elements. I diecut the little stars from the set twice to have enough to fill the sky nicely with sparkle. The iridescent cardstock is super shiny and really catches the light in a nice rainbow shimmer, which really elevates this card, as the palette is otherwise quite subdued. I popped the finished panel up on foam and added it to an A2 top folding dark blue card base.
Thanks for popping in to visit today, I hope you enjoyed seeing this crafty adventure. I much prefer my campsites on a card, but I've family who love it, so this will be heading their way! I really enjoyed making this sweet scene under the stars. I'd love to know what you think of it. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, until then, have a wonderful week. I'm doing the Stencils 2 class with Online Card Classes for the next couple of weeks. So I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of crafty adventures! Hugs to you all, Wends xoxo
