Whimsy Stamps ~ Beach Holiday Vibes
Hey crafty friends, I am sharing a card I made for my lovely brother-in-law's birthday featuring some cool Whimsy Stamps Summer themed diecuts and some ink blending. I really like how this sunset scene came together, it was one of my better ink blending moments. Right up until I added the diecuts and the glue seeped out the sides and lightened the blending but I managed to fix most of it. Note to self, be careful with liquid glue over ink blended backgrounds!
I used the wonderful Build-An-Island Die Set from Whimsy Stamps for this silhouette scene. It had everything I needed for this scene. My brother-in-law loves to surf when he can, but as a busy dad, doesn't get much opportunity to anymore, so this was to remind him to do the things that he loves too. I used a simple sentiment to finish the card and kept the whole scene very clean and simple. I freehand ink blended the setting sun straight onto the Neenah Solar White Card Base with Scattered Straw and Fired Brick Distress Oxide Inks. The lovely dark black silhouettes I cut from Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Cardstock, which is a rich and dark black perfect for this type of design. I'm running out and need to get some more!
A pretty simple card from me today, but sometimes the simple ones are the most striking! I really like how this one came together and happily my brother-in-law was pretty delighted too. Thanks for popping it to visit today and I hope to find some time this coming week for some blog visits too. Sending hugs and wishes for happy creative days. Hugs, Wends xoxo
