Sweet Stampin' ~ Father's Day/Special Man
Hey crafty friends, we have a new challenge going up at Sweet Stampin' today and this time we are looking to celebrate those special men in our lives. I have a card to share which celebrates one of my wonderful brother's in law. He used to be a surfer dude back in the day, but now is more of a domestic daddy and I made this card as a tongue and cheek reminder to still remember to take time for himself occasionally too. Needless to say, it got a giggle!
This image is from an Australian craft store that has sadly gone out of business some time back. It was called Make it Crafty and had an amazing owner who was quite the colour guru back in the day, before Kit and Clowder was a thing. The first of the colouring gurus I really enjoyed tutorials from.
I coloured this image on vellum and backed it with a white circle behind to allow the image colours to show better, as they're quite a bit lighter on vellum. I used quite bold colours so they'd show up better. A fun technique to try, but I've not been in a hurry to do it again, as I prefer the more vibrant results with ink on paper. But who knows, maybe I'll find another project it would suit. I diecut the vellum into a banner using one of the Notched Square Dies from Whimsy, I did a partial cut, so I could make it longer, to create a banner, rather than a square, which worked well.
The cool blue woodgrain papers I used are from an Etsy Store, which doesn't appear to be online anymore. They were called Dream Up Graphics and this set was called Blue Distressed Wood. It has some great patterns and blue hues and I felt it worked well to set the scene for this fun tongue in cheek creation. I popped up the first blue woodgrain panel on foam and layered it over the base woodgrain paper, just for a bit of dimension and interest.
I hope you'll come join in our creative fun this time at Sweet Stampin'. The rest of the team have woven their magic with this theme and there's lots to enjoy, so be sure to check out their posts via the linked banner above, which will take you straight to the challenge. I will be back again soon with another crafty adventure, until then, I wish you a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Wends xoxo
(If you like any of the elements I've created with, I've added thumbnails to make your shopping easier. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

The humour is great also for an 'ex' surfer :)
