Sweet Stampin' ~ Things With Wings

Hey crafty pals, I'm back with another crafty adventure for Sweet Stampin'. It's Team Susan's turn to kick off a new challenge and I'm playing along this week with a card I made for my Swedish bestie quite some time ago. I've not got around to sharing this and the theme for this challenge reminded me I really ought to! I've been busy with other crafty adventures lately, so it was nice to have this waiting in the wings for this challenge, hehe, pardon the pun!

This image is an older one from Krista Smith called Pixie Nerd from when she was still running her Saturated Canary business. I just adored this fairy when I first saw it and the quote showing Krista's obvious love for reading, was also perfect for my bestie who is the most avid reader I've ever met! Books to her are like craft supplies to me! Kinda perfect that she's a school librarian extraordinaire! So I created a little bookmark that she could use to 'mark the spot' in her book, when the hour is getting late and she just needs to stop before she's drawn into 'one more chapter'. I coloured the image with light coloured Promarkers and glittered her wings with some Stickles glitter glue. I also created a fun stippled background with some of my light coloured Promarkers. I've not done a background like that before, or since! But it was fun for this particular make and was my attempt to create a 'magical' feel. I took it too far, so it lost that translation, but still, it's a fun bit of interest for the design. I diecut the panel with a faux stitched border and then cut around it with my deckle edged scissors. These were my 'go to' for this type of finish, before buying the Tim Holtz Deckle Edged Trimmer. I really enjoy using the trimmer now though.

Thanks for popping in to visit today friends and I hope you're able to join our fabulous 'Things with Wings' challenge. We'd love to see what you're inspired to create. I'll be back very soon with another crafty adventure, until then, hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(If you like any of the elements I've created with, I've added thumbnails to make your shopping easier. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

Just adorable Wendy. Such a sweet Tinkerbell.
What a 'fun', slightly snarky fairy, Wends - you have made a fabulous card using her!!

Beautiful card Wends, gorgeous image (not seen a Saturated Canary image around in ages) I have so many of these that I never think to use these days. Love your stippled background too.
