Whimsy Stamps ~ Big Mouth Billy Bass

Hey crafty friends, have you ever seen one of those Big Mouth Billy Bass plaques where you press a button and the fish starts singing?! Well I had the fun idea to create a card with that in mind. I had a little wooden coaster in my stash which I thought could make a perfect plaque for this make. To be fair, it's a little heavy on the card, I could have done with it being about half as thick, but I didn't have the tools to adjust it, so just ran with it and I'm glad I did, because it's really fun!

I used a woodgrain paper from the Farmhouse Paper Pack from Whimsy and diecut this with one of their Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die. I hand trimmed the sentiment which I stamped in VersaFine Clair Pincone Ink, which is a lovely warm brown. I watercoloured the fish, which is from the Whimsy Stamps Born To Fish Stamp Set. I stamped it in a couple of Ranger Archival Ink Colours, Sepia and Coffee for a bit of variance in the colour base. I used Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers to add the water colour. I picked up the colour straight from the tip of the markers with my old water refilled Wink of Stella Brush pen. I spoke about this in a previous post and thought it'd be fun to use the sparkle on this make, so the fish scales looked wet and shiny. It doesn't show in this pic, but I have a reel on IG that shows in better. You can see that here. I completed the make by adding a little twine to look like the plaque was hanging on a wall and added a little screw head from a Tim Holtz Idea-ology set.

I'm behind with my makes this month. I've been juggling lots of balls and swamped with admin stuff, but I'm excited to pop in and share this make today, because I finally got to spend a little time just creating. So good for the soul! We've had a fun mini release back on July 1st and that's linked above if you'd like a closer look at this fun release. I'm super excited to have the International Christmas Greetings Stamp Set, because it has a Maori Greeting, which you'd never normally see outside of New Zealand. So I'm excited and delighted about this and cannot wait to get it! There's also a fun frame die perfect for Christmas crafting and the sweetest Quick Card Fronts this time, so do check them out! I'll be back again as soon as I have a little more creative time. Until then, have a beautiful week. Hugs, Wends xoxo

I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
