Whimsy Stamps ~ Ranger Hop ~ Card 2!
Hey crafty friends, I am back with the second of my cards that I shared in the Whimsy Stamps & Ranger Ink Christmas Hop. I used Mica Spray Stains to create this background in the colours Frosted Juniper and Juniper Berry. I just love the way the Mica shines and dances when it catches the light. The still pics do not do this justice at all, so if you're able, I recommend seeing the reel which shows this shimmer far better, over on my IG channel here.
Before adding the Mica Spray Stains, I first ink smooshed this panel with Chipped Sapphire, Prize Ribbon and Blueprint Sketch Oxide Inks to lay some colour down. I then took the Mica Spray Stains and gave the panel a good spritz with both inside my Splatter Box. My Splatter box is just an old Crisp box from the supermarket which was being thrown away and was already cut at the perfect angle to work brilliantly as a Splatter Box. A cool bit of upcycling and no assembly needed as all the joins were securely taped, so no splatter leaks! It was a fantastic find and I highly recommend keeping your eyes open for similer, should you need a Splatter Box. (Yes, I call it splatter, spatter reminds me of two things spitting and crime scenes, neither of which I want in my craft room!)
I kept the card design quite simple to let that night sky full of mica shimmer really feature. I opted for a cool Winter Village scene from Whimsy's Mountain Majesty Die Set as the base of the card design and then stamped the cheeky sentiment from the recent Merry Stressmas Clear Stamp Set in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink as the centre of this design.
I added Santa flying overhead from the Vintage Christmas Clear Stamp Set to complete this scene. This stamp set is currently on clearance and a real steal, so if you love the vintage look and feel of this set as much as I do, grab it before it's gone! My final finishing touches for this card were to distress the paper edges of the inky panel and then to add three little stars in the top right for a bit of finishing bling. These are gorgeous iridescent silver stars in various sizes from a Trinity Stamps set called Oh My Stars Holographic Confetti.
Come hop with us if you can for our fun collaboration hop with Ranger Ink! We had such fun collaborating with Ranger last year for Halloween, we decided to do it again this year for Christmas! We have a wonderful $50 GC prize up for grabs from the fabulous folks at Ranger for one randomly chosen hopper and another prize from Whimsy Stamps also a $50 GC, so it's well worth hopping along with us. The inspiration from the team using their Ranger Ink products and Whimsy Stash together is quite magical! So worth the visit just for that! My post is here. Or you can start at the beginning by clicking through on the banner above. I will be back to share the final creation I made for this hop very soon. Hugs and happy hopping, Wends xoxo
