Sugar Nellie Gorgeousness + DT Call
I say this in a whisper, with my heart in my mouth, Sugar Nellie have put out a design team call. Eeek! I can't quite believe I'm saying that. They are my favourite stamp company! I love all their gorgeous images and their wonderfully inspiring challenges and they're opening their Sugar House doors for the first time in quite a while so I'm lining up for a shot at The Sugar Bowl DT Call.
I've loved Sugar Nellie stamps for quite a number of years now, and despite discovering quite a lot of other gorgeous stamp companies along the way, Sugar Nellie remains my favourite. There's just something about them. Karen, the heart and soul of Sugar Nellie stamps has an excellent eye for discovering talented new stamp artists who create enchanting and beautiful images. One of their recent releases is a true favourite of mine. This particular artist is one of my all time favourites. I even have a Christmas story book that was illustrated by her. Sugar Nellie have a gorgeous line of stamps from this artist called the Scrapberry range. This wee cutie is from that line and is called Little Sister. I just love these enchanting images and the cute little characters that come with the sets too.

I inked the images with Memento Black ink and used some cute butterfly characters from two other sets of stamps from the Scrapberry release. I coloured the image with my Promarkers using the subtle shading I am enjoying lately. Adding a little sparkle to her pretty shoes and plenty of sparkle to her wings with Stickles Glitter Glue in Star Dust. You can better see the pretty sparkle on her wings in the image below. I also used some White Opal Liquid Pearls dotted in her hair and on her dress.
I've made this card for one of my best friends daughter's back in London. She has just turned 8 years old and when I saw this gorgeous Scrapberry set of stamps I knew I wanted to use one for her birthday card. So I added a die cut number 8 from the Marianne Design Party Numbers set. The pretty die cut frame I've used for the image is a Spellbinders die from the Radiant Rectangles set. I carefully cut around the foot and butterfly and used the 'out of the box' technique, so they didn't get cut when die-cutting the frame. I used a pretty border die also from the Spellbinders Edgeabilities range to use as the ribbon strip. I chose one with butterflies to echo the butterflies in the image. When I'd cut it out, I had all these sweet little die-cut butterflies left over, so I added them to the image and I was really pleased with how sweet it looked. A little ink along the spine and some antennae drawn in and they fit really well. I glued along the spine leaving the wings loose, so they looked like they were 'in flight'.
I've used the beautiful Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics paper for this card. These papers like the Sugar Nellie stamps, are my all time favourite papers. There's just something utterly gorgeous about the Maja Design paper sets. I chose a lilac shade paper with a simple shabby finished stripe and a lovely floral paper. I stamped the greetings directly onto the paper using Memento Rich Cocoa. I finished the card with die-cut corners using my Quickutz photo corner die cut from a lovely pearlescent cardstock and added a pearl to these two corners. The pretty purple flat back pearls are from MeiFlower and the final touch was a double bow from sheer organza ribbon.
Thanks for popping in today. I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that I'll be seriously considered for one of The Sugar Bowl Sweeties.
