Fab 'n' Funky Cute as a Button

Gosh this week has flown by. It's time for another fun challenge at Fab 'n' Funky and we have an awesome challenge for you this week. The lovely Ciska is our challenge leader this week and she has chosen the theme 'Cute as a Button'. So she's looking for cute characters and buttons, pretty simple right?

We are being sponsored by the wonderful Art by Mi Ran this week. The team has been given some utterly gorgeous stamps to use for the challenge and mine was called Autumn Memoirs. I had such a great time colouring this stamp, trying to get all the Autumn hues into the leaves. My layout went through quite a few different variations and at one stage I had flowers and leaves on there as well, but sometimes, less is more and I ended up choosing a very simple layout which let the image feature. 

The delish papers are both My Mind's Eye. The leafy one is from set Two of the 'On The Bright Side' collection. The chevron paper is from the Mabel set of the Stella & Rose collection. I was in a distressing mood for this card, so all the edges have been given the treatment with my Tim Holtz tool. I've used a fabulous hessian ribbon on the chevron paper and added a rust coloured seam binding on top. I threaded some of the seam binding through the button to secure it. I love this button, it's made of clay and has a wonderful texture to it. I've been saving it a while for the right card and this was the one thanks to a little encouragement from Ciska. Here's a close up of some of the details.

The sentiment is a cute CC Designs stamp from the Woodland Logos set which I coloured the leaves on to match the image. I've been wanting to use this a while too, but again, needed the right card. So I'm loving that some older stash has had an outing for this one. The sweet wee hedgie is also from a rummage through some older stash. He is a companion stamp in the Personal Impressions set The Friendly Hedgehog from the Gorjuss Girls stamps. You can still find these Gorjuss Girls stamps at Funky Kits, one of my favourite stamp suppliers.

The image has of course been coloured in my favourite medium, my trusty Promarkers. I really did love colouring this sweet image. I was a bit daunted by all that hair, but I love how it turned out. I wanted to do her hair in the warm copper tones of the Autumn leaves and I think she looks rather fetching with Auburn hair.
