Dream Valley - True Blue
Oh wow, it's the 1st of December already! Where oh where has this year gone?!!! My babies are growing up too fast! Just stop the world for a bit, I need some more time. I am sliding in here today by the seat of my pants, last minute photoshoot of my wee make right before it was due to go live on our challenge blog. Naughty me! Last minute lass. But enough about that, it's December 1st! That's tree trimming day in our house, so I'll share a couple of pics with you tomorrow.
The fabby stamp above is from Lacy Sunshine Stamps who is our wonderful sponsor for this fortnights challenge at Dream Valley. I just love this Parisian flavoured stamp. It's called, Adele City Girl. I'd have loved to colour her hat in a tartan pattern as the pal this card is for is Scottish. But I couldn't quite work out how in a blue theme! So blue it is.
I found some gorgeous blue velvet ribbons in my stash and kinda built the card around those. The dark blue crushed velvet is gorgeous, it's a shame it doesn't show up well in the pics. I had to fold my double bow very carefully to keep the velvet on the outside of the loops, an interesting and finger fumbling process. But I got there. It has quite a nice 'floppy rabbit ear' look to it in reality.
The doily I gave a good cup of coffee and scrunched it up a bit before adding to the card. I didn't want a stark white doily on this make, as I was keen to use my lovely natural cotton lace. I added a lovely Freckled Fawn wooden heart and two quickutz photo corners to finish the card and a lovely sentiment from a Little Darlings set. The die I've used here is a La La Land stitched tabs die.
I had coloured the mat behind the image a much brighter blue, more like the background colour on the Basic Grey Lauderdale designer paper, but when I put it all together, it looked awful. So after my panic moment was over, I just pulled out a denim blue Promarker and carefully coloured around the image trying not to ink the image itself. Fortunately, I'd already run the image around my Faded Jeans distress ink, so it didn't show in the couple of places I got too close! It looks SO much better with the darker mat. So I was really pleased with my rescue attempt.
It's pumpkin time here in New Zealand and I've a million things to do tomorrow. My pillow is calling, so I bid you goodnight. Make sure you pop on over to the Dream Valley Challenge blog to see what amazing creations my lovely DT sista's have come up with. Better still, come on over and join in our challenge too. I look forward to seeing your take on our 'True Blue' theme. Hugs, Wends x
