Southern Girls - Things With Wings
It's time for a new challenge at Southern Girls and ooh we've a good challenge for you today! It's 'Things With Wings'. Now who doesn't love a bit of fairy magic, or winged animals? My Georgie has her birthday at the end of this month and she has a thing for Dragons, so I've made a card, her little brother can give her, for her 10th birthday. Double digits, she's very excited!
Our challenge is being sponsored this fortnight by Aurora Wings and Retail Girl. Two fabulous sponsors so there are two wonderful prizes up for grabs! The Design Team were given some gorgeous stamps to play with for this challenge, and I chose the very sweet Dragon Babies from Aurora Wings. These two are just the cutest and I thought would make a really sweet card from Zac to his big sis.

I've coloured the images with my Promarkers, but as I'm pants at doing texture, I've actually printed the image twice on a patterned paper before colouring it and then paper piecing the layers. Up close, the egg shells have a lovely curve to them. I didn't want to stray too far from the colours in the paper, so I've just added shading and depth here and there. The shells would have been good to have a little lighter, but I had to work with the shades in the paper, so this is how they ended up.
I wanted to draw out the pink in the lovely backing paper, so went for a rich pink ribbon, but it was too wide to make a bow from (I did, but it swamped the card), so I opted for a triple bow using a narrow satin ribbon in matching tone. I used a LOTV sentiment stamped straight on the paper using my Smokey Plum ink, rather than black ink, as I think it would have been too stark.
I've gone for a very CAS layout, with a pretty plaid backing paper from Sugarplum Paperie for The Digital Press. The paper I used to print the dragons on was from the same set called 'A Day In The Life: Morning'. They have a fabulous promotion running at present, called 'Pennysavers' and this paper pack was in there, for only $1. Bargain!! If you like digital papers, you should really check them out, they've some lovely sets in their Pennysavers right now.
Pop on over to the Southern Girls Challenge blog to check out what my wonderful teamies have been up to. We have some new crew too! So be sure to visit their blogs and leave them some love. We're so glad to have all these talented ladies join our team. I'm excited to see their fabulous creations. I'm excited to see your take on the challenge too, so come join in!
Well, that's my post for today. I'll catch you again soon with my next crafty adventure. Hugs, Wends x
