Fab 'n' Funky - Inspired By A Song
Hey there lovely blog buddies. I'm back again with a DT card for Fab 'n' Funky. Our new challenge goes live today and the theme is 'Inspired by a Song'.
The DT were given lovely images to work with from our fabulous sponsors 'Bugaboo Stamps'. The winner is in for a real treat, as there are so many gorgeous and fun new images on the Bugaboo site right now. I was so pleased to be working with this pretty image. You can find this and many more on our wonderful sponsors site.
The song that inspired my creation is India Arie's 'Beautiful Flower'. If you've not heard it, google it, it's so pretty and uplifting. You'll be singing along in no time! I think it's a perfect fit for this pretty image. Let me know what you think.
I've digitally merged the image onto a background paper and added a shadow digitally to give it some depth. I love doing this technique, though my printer is not being very obliging, as the beautiful Michele Roos papers are actually a blue palette, not green! But my printer needs some ink settings tweaked I think. The background should have been bluer and more 'sky-like'. But I think it worked out okay, so I didn't abort despite the colour imbalance. Michele's papers are so beautiful, that even with naughty printers, they still look gorgeous. These papers are from an older 'Whimsy' set called Rose Garden. This is the page beneath the image, before I stuck the image down, soooooo pretty!
I coloured the image with my Promarkers, which looks very pale in the first pic, but actually her dress and necklace are quite a rich peachy colour, not quite as pale as they look above. Not sure what to blame that on! LOL. But this close up does it slightly better justice, though still pale in comparison to reality.
I printed the image sheet of paper a second time without the image in the same size and fussy cut the flowers to layer over the image, so it looks as though she's behind a hedge of beautiful blooms. I curled the paper slightly to give it some movement and dimension and used my Olba Glue to fix it in place. Love this glue for fussy cut images. It works well for flat fixing, or for layering up and creating dimension. Fabulous stuff!

The sentiment is Avery Elle from from their 'Lots of Love' set. It was a perfect fit for this image and it literally fit perfectly in that little space too. I inked the sentiment in Memento Olive Grove, to keep with the green palette. I edged the papers with my Verdigris Promarker.
Well that's all there is to say about this wee make. You can see the depth of the layers a wee bit better from the photo angle above. I hope you liked having a look at my project and please do pop in and have a go with our 'Inspired by a Song' challenge, we'd love to see what inspires you! My teamies have made some fabulous creations for this challenge, so be sure to pop in and take a peak at their creations too. I'll be back again soon with my next crafty adventure, in the meantime, have a fabulous week. Hugs, Wends x
