Southern Girls ~ Stickers or Tape

Hey there, my lovely blog buddies. It's time again for another Southern Girls challenge. I know that's rolled around fast, and truth be told, we haven't actually closed the last challenge yet, but as we were late with the previous challenge, we have decided to post this challenge on schedule and have a one week cross over. You can enter both challenges at once for this next week, which hopefully will put us back on track.

We have three amazing sponsors this week, Polkadoodles, Lemon Shortbread and All Dressed Up Stamps. The winners are in for some pretty fabulous prizes this challenge! I was given a beautiful image to work with by our sponsor 'All Dressed Up' for this challenge.

I have to confess, I took one look at this image and thought 'Audrey Hepburn'. There's just something so elegant and sophisticated about this image that utterly reminds me of the lovely Audrey. So I had planned to pair the image with a quote by Audrey Hepburn, though when it came down to it, the quote I wanted to use, was far too long to include on the card. But I'll put it here for you to enjoy her lovely words of wisdom anyway.

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with the passing years."
- Audrey Hepburn

I found a lovely sentiment in one of my Kaisercraft paper pads which fit with this image perfectly and echoed the Audrey Hepburn sentiment beautifully. My card design this time is a gatefold card, so the embellishments are all adhered together in layers and then only adhered to the left hand half of the card. The following photos show this better. I've not made one of these before, so it was fun playing around with the options.

Our theme this challenge is 'Tape or Stickers' so we'd love to see you pull out your stickers and your washi tape and show us what you can do with them. My 'stickers' in this creation are the chalkboard diecut behind the image, which is from a My Mind's Eye Chalk Studio set called 8 Label Stickers. Plus I added a cork heart sticker which is from the lovely Jody at Spiegelmom Scraps. I love these thin self adhesive cork shapes, they're fab! I used my Cardinal Red Promarker to turn the natural cork that lovely dark rich red. The tiny heart paper I've used in the background is from Pixel Scrapper ~ Elif Sahin. I used Ingvild Bolme White Chalk Ink around the edges to soften the paper edge.

I used two pretty paper doilies in this creation, a larger black doily and a small white one. I used a red stitched circle diecut between the doilies to add strength to the layers and tie in the red in the card. I used a Lil' Inkers die to cut the circle. I added a red grosgrain ribbon, which I cut in a 'V' on the left, but looped behind the chalkboard diecut on the right, to act as a tab to open the card up.

I hope you'll come on over and join in our fun 'Stickers & Tape' challenge this week and remember you can still enter our 'Classy Colour Combo' challenge for a further week. I'll see you all again really soon with another crafty adventure. Enjoy the rest of your week. Hugs, Wends x
