Fab 'n' Funky - Christmas

Okay, I don't want to freak you out or anything, but did you know, there's only 57 days until Christmas?! That's a little over 8 weeks!! So on that note, we girlies at Fab 'n' Funky, thought we'd encourage you to work on your Christmas card stash and get ready for the holidays. So we are having another Christmas card challenge today and this week I'm hosting the challenge. We are being sponsored by Inky Impressions who have given the DT some utterly adorable stamps to work with for this challenge. Go check them out, they're really sweet.

Several of the DT fell in love with this adorable image 'Marleigha's Reindeer' and have used it for our challenge. That little reindeer is so sweet and cute. I just HAD to colour this one up for my card. I even had a go at adding the little fawn spots. Which took me several goes and several layers of Promarker ink! But I'm really happy with the result.

I used some Wink of Stella on the yellow and green fairy light bulbs, the red I left plain, just adding extra shading to the base. I left all the centres of the bulbs uninked, so it looks like the light refracts there. The blue bulbs I added glossy accents to, so it adds texture and shine. I also added some glossy accents to his little red nose. Such a cute wee character!

I've kept the card design very simple to really allow this sweet image to shine. I tried so many different embellishments, at one point I had a gorgeous Memory Box Snowflake border out, but it swamped the image, then I tried just the snowflake corner, but it didn't sit well on any particular corner. Finally having first cut the Holly & Snowflake Sprig from white and green, settled on the red. I tried layering all three, but it was too much, so sometimes less really is more! Even two looked too fussy. I tried so many different corner options too, and finally settled on this sweet Magnolia Doohickey Acorn (more Autumn than Christmas I know, but work with me here). All the snowflake options I tried didn't look right, but when I sat that wee acorn there, it just fit so well. I inked it up with my Promarkers. I needed a simple fix for the top right corner too and this Quickutz photo corner is one of my 'go to' simple fixes. With a little pearl it was just right.

Well folks, that's it from me today. I hope you'll come and join our Christmas challenge and add to your Christmas card stash. We're heading so fast that way! Do go to the Fab 'n' Funky Challenge blog and check out what my awesomely talented teamies did with these sweet Inky Impressions images. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. See you again soon. Hugs, Wends x

I do love your card though, fabulous colours and a really lovely image :-)

Big hugs, Kat xx
What an endearing card you've made! I enjoyed seeing all the details you thought to incorporate and it was fun to read your post and follow your creative journey. It takes me for-e-ver to find just the right thing (or leave off just the right thing) to get something to look like I want it to. So kudos to you for sticking with it because the final result is PERFECT! Then central image does indeed shine, but all the touches you added were just right. Excellent work and thank you so much for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

Hi Wendy
Thanks so much for your comment on my blog. I've been trying to figure out how to contact people like yourself to say thanks(unsuccessfully up to now), and in doing so stumbled across the SOuthern Girls Challenge (YAY) so that was good, and now I've found your blog to say THANK YOU!
