Sweet Stampin' - Halloween
Hey there my lovely blog buddies. I hope you've had a good week. It's the end of another week and we're getting ever closer to the end of another year! How has this one gone so fast?! Today is the start of another challenge at Sweet Stampin' and we have a fun challenge theme. We are looking forward to seeing all your fun and fabulous Halloween creations. I love the 'too cute to spook' ones myself, I'm not big on the creepy scary ones, so I'm hoping for a lot of cute Halloween makes. But whatever your inclination is, come on over and join us for our Halloween special! There's a great prize on offer too from our wonderful sponsor 'Stix2'.
In line with my love for the 'too cute to spook' variety of stamps, I have used an utterly enchanting wee witchy from the uber talented Mo Manning. I just LOVE her stamps. They really are a little bit special. A rare and true talent. I just loved this wee witchy when I first came across her and I've been hanging out to use her this Halloween. I've another sweet witchy of Mo's to make up into a card too, but this wee cutie got my attention first. I've coloured her of course with my fabby Promarkers. Love the way her silver hair came out.
I kept the card design very simple, unlike my Halloween card last year and stuck with a predominantly black palette. The digital paper is a magazine freebie from issue 135 of Cardmaking & Papercrafts. I thought the fun bright paper would lift the otherwise very black design.
The dies I've used on this card are a Magnolia Doohickey black cat, a Quickutz doily, a spider web from the Autumn set of Magnolia Doohickey club magazine (Volume 6) and a little book from the same set. The leafy swirl is from Cheery Lynn. I splodged some black ink along the borders of the paper to distress it a bit and added a black feather and a lovely black fabric flower from Flourish with a Bling. The tiny bats are a CC Designs die.
The little 'spellbook' has a sentiment hidden inside, which you can read when you lift the flap. I matted a sentiment from Tracey Brossart onto black card and cut a small border around it, then snipped the corners with my whole punch to create a 'ticket' effect before mounting it on deep foam and popping inside the little spellbook. I really love how this worked out. A cute little 'hidden element' on the card.
Well that's my little witchy make done. I can't wait to see what you come up with for our Halloween challenge at Sweet Stampin'. I hope you've had fun looking at mine. I'll be back again before long with another crafty adventure. In the meantime I'll be popping around to check out my blog buddies adventures, so have an awesome weekend and I'll see you soon. After the week I've had, it's REALLY nice that we have a long weekend here in New Zealand to celebrate our 'Labour Day'. Hugs to you all, Wends x

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge: #256 ~ Anything Goes (with Fall colours)
As You Like It: Brights or Pastels? I LOVE pastel makes, especially Maja papers etc, but I do tend to go for a lot of colour in my own creations. This is a predominantly black creation but underneath is some pretty LOUD bright Halloween paper to bring this make to life. So I say Brights.
Update: My card was chosen for a 'Golden Egg' award at 4 Crafty Chicks. Thank you ladies. I'm delighted!
