Sweet Stampin' ~ Things with Wings
Hey my lovely blog pals, hope all's well with you this fine week. We've had warm days and sunshine here in New Zealand, so the kiddies and I are feeling pretty chipper about that. Makes the holidays all the happier.
We've a new challenge kicking off today over at Sweet Stampin' and we have a wonderful theme this week, it's 'Things with Wings'. Which suits our fabulous sponsors images to a 'T'. I've used a very gorgeous Hannah Lynn image from our lovely sponsors 'Crafts & Me' which I just loved colouring.
I've used my Promarkers to colour this pretty image and I have to say I'm sooooo happy with the lovely honey blonde I managed to achieve on her hair. I'm not brilliant at colouring hair, but I just loved the finish on this one. I'll have to use that combo more often.
I've used glossy accents on the little polkadot hearts in the pic for a little dimension. The butterfly wings I used two different glitters on, one gold and the other a copper colour. We have so many beautiful Monarch Butterflies around at the moment. It's been the Summer of Butterflies for me, they're everywhere this year and so beautiful. This image reminds me of them with her pretty butterfly wings.
I've used lots of different reds in this creation, from all sorts of different sources, but I think they've all come together rather well. I used a paint tester square behind the image and the little Whimsy heart I embossed with clear embossing powder so that it would deepen a bit in colour to work in better with the paint tester. It took on a lovely sheen and the depth of the colour was just what I wanted, so I was well chuffed with that and it made a lovely contrast to the white sheen paper I used for the 'hello' diecut.
Usually I like to group my flowers in odd numbers, 3, 5, 9, but on this occasion, I just wanted the two. I don't know if I got the balance quite right, but when I tried to add the third bloom, it just looked wrong, so I left it there. I used a gorgeous 'Flourish with a Bling' fabric flower, but pulled out the centre as it wasn't exactly what I envisioned for this card and replaced it with a black 'Sparkler' crystal flat back gem. The other flower is a lovely organza rolled rose. I've used a gorgeous pewter velvet ribbon along the punched strip and cut a Spellbinders corner die to create the two flourishes behind the flowers.
Thanks for popping in today. I hope you'll come and join us for our 'Things with Wings' challenge. It's always a popular one as we crafters all seem to love fairies and things mystical right? So show us what your 'Things with Wings' creation looks like and I'll be back again soon with my next crafty adventure. Big hugs until then and have an awesome week, Wends x
