Fab 'n' Funky ~ Enchanted I'm Sure

Hello lovelies. It's Wednesday so time for a new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky and this week they're letting me loose on the blog as I am the hostess. So it was my turn to choose the theme and as most of you know who've been following my blog a while, I love fairies, mermaids, and mythical creatures, so I have chosen the theme 'Enchanted I'm Sure'. Which really means, create something with a mythical or mystical theme. You could choose a mermaid, fairy, unicorn or go the way of knights, dragons and damsels, as long as it's enchanting in some way, I'll think you've nailed it!

Our wonderful sponsor Julia Spiri could have not been better suited to this challenge, her images are full of enchantment, magic and mystical mythical creatures. The DT were spoilt to have her images to play with for this challenge. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was to have this sweet image to colour up.

Ooh check out this gorgeous creature - The Flower Girl or as I've nicknamed her 'The Lady of the Flowers'. With those flower shaped irises I imagine her to be some mythical creature like 'The Lady of the Lake'. I think she's ethereal, wistful and enchanting. I wanted to colour her up to look as if she was part of the forest, as if her hair was moss and the flowers actually grow there. I see her as some woodland sprite, a forest spirit. I think she's beautiful and in my mind, she's utterly perfect for our challenge this week at Fab 'n' Funky.

I've added oodles of Wink of Stella to this creation, which of course is impossible to see in the above pic, but the colour balance is best in that pic, so gives a truer impression of the colours. But the pic below taken under the spots, shows the pretty sparkles, even if she is a bit bleached out.

I used my Promarkers of course to colour this beauty and stamped some gorgeous Lili of the Valley Grunge Elements around her. The pretty floral stamp I've used in the top left and bottom right corner are from Unity Stamps, as is the lovely sentiment. I have a cousin undergoing radiotherapy at present, so this card is meant for her and I wanted a sentiment to let her know how much she is in our hearts and on our minds, so this fit the bill perfectly. As you can see in the pic below, I dabbed some Wink of Stella in the centre of the two biggest flowers to add a subtle touch of sparkle. I had a wee inky accident under the sentiment, so don't look too closely at that poor butterfly, I managed to mop the worst up quickly, so not a total disaster.

I chose a CAS design, with foam behind the image panel for a bit of dimension and a paper strip down the side that would bring out the pink of the flowers and tone down the green a bit. The pink paper is from a gorgeous DCWV 12x12 paper stack that my lovely baby sis sent from America. The postage was horrendous for her, poor poppet, but oh my goodness what a totally scrummy treaty parcel to receive! I'll see if I can find a pic of the parcel as there were so many spoily gorgeous bits to it. A super lovely treaty surprise.

So there she is my forest nymph, as much a part of the forest as the animals and trees. Yes, her skin is green, perhaps not the best choice of skin colour for my cousin's sake, but I wanted her to look and feel surreal and elvin. Hopefully that's how she's viewed not as 'Vampirish' as my hubby suggested she looked! Bah, I don't see it!

Come on over and join in with my challenge this week at Fab 'n' Funky, I would LOVE to see what you come up with for this challenge. You have to stop in and check out what my talented teamies did for the challenge too, as I have to say, they hit it out the ballpark this week, their makes are stunning! So come visit and if you love what you see be sure to visit their blogs and let them know. I'll be back before long with another crafty adventure. Have a fabby week. Big hugs, Wends x

Wends, my sweet friend, this is gorgeous! I love your inspiration with her... you've made her a perfect woodland sprite. (Vampirish?! Not in the least! What do boys know, anyway?!) ;) You have colored her beautifully. I loved the greens at first glance and then even more so upon reading why you chose the shades. She is stunning. The stamps throughout your card are so pretty and the sentiment warms my heart. The pink strip is exquisite... what an amazing shade and I do love that it brings out the pink blossoms in the image. Wonderfully done as always, my kind and talented friend. Sending tons of sparkly love your way!

Hugs and blessings,
Karen
