Just For Fun ~ Butterfly Rainbow
Hey there my lovely blogland pals. Today I have a wee share with a couple of cards I made using a cool technique I spotted on Pinterest.
I found the original post on Kreative Kymona Blogspot. The colours and style of her card were simply delicious, so I had a go at 'CASEing' her card. Here is a peek at her beautiful creation. Click on the image below to visit her site.

I went recently to New Zealands answer to The Ally Pally Craft fair, known as SENZ (Scrapbooking Expo' New Zealand) and I found these beautiful dies designed right here in New Zealand. I bought this fabulous large butterfly from Scrap 'n' Diez. Considering their prices are in NZ$, they are incredibly well priced! I specifically had this ink technique in mind when I made the purchase, having spotted the tutorial on Pinterest a night or so before attending the expo. I had a go at the Distress Inking in two different Distress Ink colourways. Two of my siblings saw the first one I made and both loved the design and the sentiment, so I ended up making two so they could have one each for the pals they wished to share them with. I have a feeling I'll be repeating this design again!
I used the Distress Ink colours Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves and Spun Sugar for this first creation. You can see a wee peek of the Distress Ink panel behind the wings in the pick below. It has been splattered with water, but this isn't showing well in this picture. It's showing the shadow from the wings.
It's such a nice feeling when your work is appreciated and admired. So I felt pretty happy repeating the design, that my brother and sister loved so much the first time. But I wanted to try some different colours second time around and this is what I came up with for 'take two'.
The second time I used the Distress Ink colours Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean. You can see the water splatters better in the lifted wing picture below. I did use the same technique for both cards, so there's some interest and variation in the ink below the wings. I just love the fresh hues of the combination below.
I added both the sentiments directly to the card base on both cards, but my hand slipped on the blue creation and it smudged badly (I was kicking myself!) so I rescued the second creation by stamping the sentiment again on a bit of cardstock and added it over my mistake. It's not as good as the original, but still works thankfully. I think the sentiment is beautiful and so did my siblings, who didn't want a thing changed. The sentiment is from a beautiful set by Penny Black called Heartfelt Thanks. I stamped it in Memento Paris Dusk for the first card and in Black Tuxedo for the second card as the blue didn't work as well with the blue shades in the second card.
That's it from me today. I have to do a quick shop before my brother's come for dinner. So I'll leave it there. Hope you're all having a fabulous week and hope you're finding time for your crafty adventures. I'll be back with my next crafty adventure very soon. Hugs, Wends xoxo

Now, with my love of pink and purple you would think that the first design would have the edge for me, but honestly I don't think I could choose because the colours of the second one are so vibrant and I adore them too!
Your siblings are right that the sentiment is absolutely perfect too; the font and phrasing complement the butterfly so well...and even where you had to re-stamp and add a second sentiment over the top it looks fabulous...we've all done this haven't we?!
