Fab 'n' Funky ~ Fall Colours

Hey there lovely crafty peeps, I'm flying in today with a DT creation for Fab 'n' Funky. We are having a 'Fall Colours' challenge. I LOVE Autumn. Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons, so this is pure joy for me, creating for this season. We are being sponsored by DigiStamps4Joy this week and were given some lovely images to create with. I love owls, so when I saw this sweet image, I wanted to colour it up as a lovely brown owl. I found a fab photo to work from as inspiration.

I used copics to colour this picture, all with the exception of one Promarker in Pumpkin colour, to bridge the gap between the orange shades of copics I had. They actually work together incredibly well. I coloured the sky background using a technique that I learnt from Mindy Baxter. I did a fun tutorial of hers recently where she taught colouring the sky using copics. It's not so obvious here, but there's a soft gradient that fades towards the top.

(I wasn't brave enough to try and leave white feathers!)

I used some absolutely beautiful paper from Maja Design called 'Walk In The Forest'. I've had this for so long and have really wanted to craft with it, so it sprang to mind when I knew I had to do an Autumn creation and I love the way it works with this image. It's a shame to cover this beautiful paper, so I kept my embellishments to a minimum.

The sun was behind a cloud for this pic, so the colours are a bit washed out. But you can see the finished card design, which I added some feathers to and a couple of diecut acorns which I coloured with my copics. The acorns are from a lovely CC Designs set called Make A Card #9 ~ Autumn, which I bought recently in their amazing sale.
