Southern Girls Challenge ~ A Kinetic Card
Hey there lovelies, I've been caught up with the kiddos again, so not around blogland much. It was my daddy's birthday on September 1st followed by Father's Day on the Sunday, so that always leaves me with a case of the blues. But this year, we gathered at my brother's place and had a wonderful family celebration, which included the promise of two new babes in the family. So that certainly lifted all our spirits. I'll show you later, the cute CAS card I made to celebrate the 'daddy's under construction'. But first, I better tell you about our fabulous new challenge at Southern Girls! We are live and kicking baby and this week, we want to see your 'Kinetic Creations', whaaaatt??! (I know right, I had to look it up!) it's just fancy speak for stuff that moves. So make it a shaker card, a rocker, a wobbler, a waterfall, a pop out, what ever tickles your fancy. I for one cannot wait to see what you create for the challenge. It's such a fun one!
I love Elisabeth Bell images and I don't need much encouragement to use one of her gorgeous designs, this sweet image called Chloe is from her Whimsy Stamps range. You know how much I LOVE Maja Design papers too right? So I had a blast creating this fun shaker card with some of my favourite things. I used 1943 & 1944 from the Vintage Summer Basics range. I used a large Spellbinders scalloped square die to cut the frame for the shaker.
(I did a sneaky trick and took this pic sideways so the sequins fell to the side)
I actually used a waterfall pocket from a scrapbook page to create my wee shaker, which meant I could use a thinner frame. I sealed the pocket up after adding the little heart sequins with my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool and because all the sequins were securely contained, I was able to use less depth of foam.
(Here she is right side up with all the pretty hearts at her feet)
The waterfall pocket makes a very slim shaker, which is great for sending through international post. Or it would have been, if I hadn't got carried away with all the delish Wild Orchid Crafts goodies! They are one of our lovely sponsors for this challenge and I've used their gorgeous products for years and I'm a huge fan of all there floral range but their bling and other embellies are also utterly fab. You totally owe it to yourself to have a wee browse through their site. Our challenge winner will be in for such a super treat.
I hope you'll come and join in this fun challenge and show us what inspires you that has a kinetic element when you're crafting. I've another couple of kinetic cards to follow soon, as I got the bug! So watch this space. I also will have a celebration candy very soon as I just noticed I have over 150 followers now! Don't know when that happened or how, but I'm kinda stoked! So I'll be back with some celebration goodies very soon. Hugs to you all until then, Wends xoxo

Well done for making it all the way down to the bottom of this long post? As promised here's a pic of the cards I gave my baby brother and brother-in-law, to celebrate their happy news. I feel that the girlies get a lot of attention when babes are announced (and yes, I've done gorgeous cards for them) so since it was Father's Day two days after our family gathering, I decided to celebrate these awesome men and their happy news. They got a cute Father's Day pressie and I whipped up this fun CAS card to accompany that. I did draw inspiration from some Google searches, but knew I wanted to make a 'definition of fatherhood' card, so added some personalised definitions and it came together very quickly.

I love the design of this card too.
Glad you dropped it onto the front porch at 613 Avenue Create.
Hugs Sheryl DT member xx
The gifts and cards you created for the new daddies is such a lovely idea! So thoughtful, bet they were delighted to be made a fuss of - it's usually the mummies to be who get all of the attention!
