Fab 'n' Funky ~ Christmas in July

Hello again my lovely crafty pals. I'm here to share our monthly Christmas challenge at Fab 'n' Funky. If you follow the challenge, you'll know that we have a Christmas challenge once every month, to encourage us all to do some Christmas crafting in advance of the silly season! I try not to leave my Christmas crafting to the last minute, because it becomes the silly season for us all too quickly, with the calendar end of school and all the events that come with that. So if I leave my Christmas crafting until November and December, it ends up only half done. So I love having this opportunity to get ahead a little bit. I've got a little 'set' of cards to share today, as I've done a very quick and easy design with some pre-coloured toppers with just a few stamped sentiments and a bit of glitter here and there.

I used four fabulous Lili of the Valley toppers to create these Christmas cards. I kept the designs very simple. No diecutting or distressing, leaving them just as they tore out of the topper pad. But with each design, I chose something within the design that I could embellish slightly.

I used Lili of the Valley Christmas sentiments for each card, changing the ink colour to Memento Paris Dusk for this middle one as I felt it would look nice in blue. I really love the Lili of the Valley sentiment sets, there's a perfect sentiment for just about every Christmas creation I want to make! I kept the card bases plain kraft card, so that the images were what the eye was drawn to. I love kraft designs for Christmas too, understated and classic.

If you pop the pictures up a little bigger (just click on the images), you'll see the details of the embellishments better. This little squirrel card I've drawn with a glue pen around each snow flake in the design and then sprinkled loose glitter over it. For the top two cards, I used a pearl pen to add in the snow details. Just simple finishes, but they really do make a very simple design rather lovely.

This final card, there was no snow drifts to add sparkle to and I think it's enchanting just as it is, so I left it plain, no glitter or sparkle, just a simple understated Christmas greeting in a colour to tone with the understated kraft card base, making the image the absolute focal point. The ink was Memento Desert Sand for those of you who like the details. I'll be making more of these simple topper card designs soon, as I can make several in a short space of time, which when you need a few, is a great way to craft. A simple design, that's easily repeated works well for me when it comes to Christmas creations.

I hope you'll come and join us for this Christmas challenge. Stop by the challenge blog to see what my amazing teamies have done for this challenge. They up the bar each time! You're welcome to create anything papercraft for this challenge as long as it's for Christmas. So do come and join us and show off your Christmas creations too. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, have a fabulous week and happy Christmas crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo
