Whimsy Wednesday ~ Hello My Pretty
Hey there lovely crafty pals. It's time for my Whimsy Wednesday post and I have a 'Too Cute To Spook' Halloween creation to share with you tonight. The image I've used is one of my 'all time favourite' Halloween images. I come back to this image whenever Halloween rolls around as it's just so enchanting and sweet. It's been drawn by the wonderfully talented Crissy Armstrong of Whimsy Stamps and I think she's just the cutest wee witch ever! I love her cute pumpkin trick or treat pail and her gorgeous witchy shoes! I coloured her up with Copic Markers and popped her up on some foam.
I created a fun shaker card with some pumpkin sequins, little gold moon sequins and other assorted sequins and gems. This mix comes from Little Things from Lucy's Cards. It was a mix called Ghoulish. It had lots of extra bits and pieces, but I separated some of those things out to keep the mix mostly pumpkins and moons and black sequins. I saved the rest of course for another time.
Did you know Whimsy Stamps has a range of sequins? The lovely Jody from Spiegelmom Scraps is supplying Whimsy now and she has such a lovely range, so be sure to check these out in store along with the rest of the gorgeous Whimsy bling. I've stuck the layers of the shaker together with foam and very strong double sided sticky tape as I want it to stay put and I want none of those gorgeous little bits of bling to sneak out!
I snuck in a couple of googly eyes in the top right corner to look as though there was a monster peeking out of the darkness. A bunch of sequins have got stuck around them though, so that didn't work quite as well as it could have. It was quite cool until the sequins bunched up there! LOL.
I wanted to add a Halloween moon to this creation, so used a layered moon stamp to create the craters on this moon, I trimmed it to fit the corner and added a wee 3D bat and little cloud from the Whimsy Stamps Stitched Clouds set. The paper I used for the moon has a lovely sheen to it, so was a nice base for this embellishment.
I also added a layered Jack-o-Lantern from an older Quickutz hand held die. I actually still use my tiny Quickutz dies quite a lot. It's nice to bring out older stash and give it some love.
Because I love this sweet image so much, I decided to make this as a Halloween decoration rather than a card. So that I can use it every year at Halloween. So I've created a 'stand' for the card. I reinforced it with stronger cardboard on the inside panel and at the base.
If you've not had a chance to check out the October new releases at Whimsy Stamps, head on over there for a looksy, there are some super fun things going on this month to celebrate Halloween. Whimsy is also sponsoring Kit & Clowder with a fun colouring project this month, so there's loads to check out both on the blog and in the Facebook Group. We are nearing the end of the month, so there will be a whole host of new fun when our November Release is live. Squeee, I can't wait! I'll be back soon with more crafty adventures, until then have a gorgeous week and happy crafting xoxo
