Fab 'n' Funky ~ Crafting with Animals

Hey lovely crafty friends, I'm here with my Fab 'n' Funky DT creation tonight. Our lovely hostess Chris has chosen the fab theme 'With An Animal' and our sponsor this week is Dr Digi's House of Stamps, so the pairing is perfect as there are loads of fabulous and fun critter images in their range.

I have chosen the cutest lil' shy whale for my creation called 'Wilbur the Whale', but according to my small boy he should be called Moby. We've just finished reading Moby Dick together for our bedtime story and it left quite an impression on him. So I thought I'd create a lil' wall decoration with this sweet image that he can have in his room.

I've coloured sweet Wilbur who looks ever so shy to me, as a 'White Whale' just as Moby Dick was, as per my lil' guys instructions. I've used B0000, B000, B00 for the main body accents. The water spout I've coloured with BG0000, BG11, BG13, B00, B95 and B97. It's such a small area, it's hard to believe all those colours are in there, but they are! I've added little white highlights with a white gelly roll pen to the droplets of water in the spray for highlight, but it's hard to spot in the photo.

I created the sentiment on my printer. I used a deep blue colour to print the sentiment rather than black, so that it toned in with the lovely background paper. This paper is from Fancy Pants Designs and is called Down By The Shore. It's another paper pack that I've collected in the '$1 Wednesday' promotions Snap Click Supply run every week. I'm collecting quite a lovely range of digital papers this way. If you haven't discovered them, I highly recommend taking a peek. I really love using digital papers. I print them onto 200gsm paper, so they have a lovely weight to them and the paper is strong enough for me to distress the edges if I want to.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I've actually got a few posts going live tonight as it's also time for a new challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' and it is of course 'Whimsy Wednesday'. I share my Digital Diva post every Wednesday with a new release image for Whimsy Stamps so be sure to stop back and check those out a little later too. Do stop by the Fab 'n' Funky blog to check out what my awesomely talented teamies have been up to as well. You're sure to leave inspired. I hope you'll come and play along with us this week and I'll be back very soon with my next crafty adventure. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

What a great idea to use this cute 'Moby' to make a wall decoration for your son, love the backing paper too, it provides such a lovely contrast to the white whale!
