Sweet Stampin' ~ Family

Hey there lovely crafty pals, did you know this week on May 15th was the International Day of Families?! So we at Sweet Stampin' thought this would be a fab thing to celebrate as a challenge theme. We'd love to see an image that depicts a family, or family member, mother, father, sister, brother, child. Maybe just in the sentiment or through the image too. As long as there is a connection to family we'd love to see it. I created a special Pop Up Box to celebrate the birth of my son's best friend's baby brother. I created it a while back, but only now finally sharing it. When I was thinking about this theme, I remembered this creation and it's so perfect for this theme. So finally this wee make gets it's day in the sun.

I made a sleeve for the pop up box using kraft card and decorated it with some lovely Maja Design papers from their Vintage Baby collection. I just love Maja Design papers, there's something timeless and oh so enchanting about their paper ranges. They remain some of my absolute favourites to work with when creating something very special.

On the back of the sleeve, I created a little message box area. I forgot to photograph it before writing the wee message from my son to his friend, so apologies for that. I edged all the paper layers with Distress Ink in Tea Dye.

I created the Pop Up Box (there are several tutorials on YouTube) which has a rubber band inside, that when you pull the box from the sleeve, it pops up into it's cube shape. I thought it would be very fun for my son's friend to celebrate his baby brother's arrival. He's been such a sweet friend to my boy and he's so excited about having a baby brother, so it was lovely to share in his joy.

The four sides of the cute were decorated with a diecut scalloped circle and then a lovely white paper with an irridescent sheen, which I stamped the two boys names on and then the 'baby boy' and 'big brother' sentiments on.

To finish the front of the sleeve, I added a strip of hessian, a felt doily, some strands of hessian looped that I pulled from the edge of the main strip, a couple of little tags cut from the Maja Design paper and finished the design with a rusty heart embellishment that I bought from Live & Love Crafts (oh how I miss that store!) topped with a little sentiment tag from a My Mind's Eye set. (Sharp intake of breath, that was a long sentence! LOL) Now this creation is almost impossible to do justice to with only photos, and you can't capture the 'pop' in a still. So with the help of my lovely daughter, I've captured this in a very short video for you.

I hope you'll come and join us this week at Sweet Stampin' for our 'Family' themed challenge. I can't wait to see what you're inspired to do. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. In the meantime, I wish you a wonderful weekend and happy crafting. Hugs, Wends xoxo
