Whimsy Wednesday ~ Dreamy Dragon

Hey there crafty pals, this week has screamed by at a rate of knots. My hubby's 50th birthday was on Sunday which had me completely preoccupied, so much so, I didn't find a minute to share this cutie for my usual Whimsy Wednesday post. So here it is finally, late but no less lovely. I find this image utterly enchanting and have coloured it up in my mummy's favourite colour. She loves all shades of purple, which I think suits this wee dragon so well! 

I've used a beautiful glittery netting in the background, that my mother in law gave me that she'd kept for me from a flower arrangement. Florists use such pretty wraps at times and she thought I'd like this one, which I do! I've a bit left too, so it'll be used again. I used some lovely Wavy Stitched Squares to cut the image and mat. I used a slightly larger Wavy Stitched Square die than the purple mat layer to cut the pretty glittery netting too, to keep that same shape. It's really sparkly in the light and so pretty.

This cutie is by Whimsy Stamps artist Sylvia Zet from her Wee Stamps Digital Collection at Whimsy Stamps. I've coloured this sweet image with my Copic Markers and added a touch of stickles to the centre of the blossoms, which sadly doesn't show well in the pics. It is a subtle touch, but lovely in reality. 

This pic above does give a wee hint of the sparkle on the flowers, but it's much more glittery in reality. I really enjoyed colouring in this cutie. I was a little worried about the shading and didn't want to use contrasting colours on the fins, just deeper shades and I really love how it all came together. I added a subtle wash of blue around the image to hint at a blue summer sky.
