Fab 'n' Funky ~ Stars & Stripes

Hey there crafty pals. I decided to play along this week with Team Fab, because I had a sweet card in my stash that I'd yet to blog that was perfect for this challenge. Our theme chosen by our lovely hostess Pat in honour of American Independance Day tomorrow, is 'Stars & Stripes'. I actually made this for the LOTV card swap recently and as there were two Kiwi's who threw their name in the hat, we wound up sending to each other, which was actually a gorgeous treat, because we're crafty friends! So this went to my lovely friend Karen.

Do you condsider plaid striped? If so, with her stripey socks and the plaid paper, I think I have both stars and stripes on this creation! That darling image is of course Lili of the Valley as I suggested above. A sweet and wistful Summer night image with a wee fairy on her toadstool. I adore this image and had such fun colouring it up. It's very sparkly in reality and hard to capture on camera. But I managed a close up with a little more sparkle.

I used my Copic Markers to colour this cutie and created an ombré sky with deep inky denim blues. I've not tried this before and I adore how it turned out! I've glittered liberally with Wink of Stella, her shoes, skirt, wings, hair bobbles, moon and stars. With the addition of the silvery glitter strips down the side of the image panel, it really is a very shiny, glittery card.

With all that glitter going on, I felt it needed a simpler paper and if you know me well, you'll know I'm crazy for plaid and tartan, so I found just the right paper to pair with this image in an older Craftwork Cards Tartan Paper Pad and with the addition of a silver glitter diecut 'hugs' sentiment, the card was done! This is definitely one of my favourite cards I've created this year. The look is very 'me'.

I hope you'll come and join us this week for our Stars & Stripes challenge. We'd love to see what you're inspired to create. Be sure to stop into the challenge and check out what my talented teamies got up to this week. You're sure to be inspired. I'll be back again very soon with my Whimsy Wednesday post, so watch this space! Hugs, Wends xoxo
