Sweet Stampin' ~ Wonderful Women

Hey there lovely crafty pals. I'm here to share my latest DT creation for Sweet Stampin'. This week, we are celebrating the Wonderful Women in our lives. Inspired by Emmeline Pankhurst who was a suffragette who championed the cause of women's voting rights in Great Britain in the early 20th century. So as a hat tip to this great lady, we'd love to see all your creations that honour wonderful women in your lives. This is of course open to your own interpretation but please remember to add some stamping to be considered for our Top 3.

I created this card for my darling Swedish pal, she's is my closest friend despite living miles apart and the humour in this sentiment is so perfect for her! That Shakespearean quote 'though she be but little she is fierce', I so have to work into a creation for her sometime soon. She's one of the most commanding people I know, despite being 5 foot nothing! I absolutely adore her and have missed her every day since we left the UK. So writing snail mail to each other on a regular basis keeps us current in each other's lives. Yes, we message each other on messenger etc, but there's something wonderful about opening up a letter from your bestie, that's been written in her hand and pouring over the pages again and again to drink in all the latest news.

When we lived in London, we used to love those magnets and coasters featuring 1950's housewives looking fabulous and all dolled up, but saying the funniest and most inappropriate things. So I knew she'd get a kick out of this one. I love this oh so innocent elegant femme paired with the sassy and funny sentiment. The stamp and sentiment are both from American Stamp company Unity Stamps.

I learnt a lesson on this creation. From this time on, I won't use black embossing powder on cards with 'tooth'. This paper seemed to grab the powder, hence the little flecks of black around the sentiment. I did use an anti-static powder bag, but this happened anyway, so in the future, I'll ink in black and clear emboss over it, if I'm using a watercolour paper with texture and tooth.

This second card, I made for the same pal a while back, it was to celebrate her birthday, which is why the stamped sentiment is in Swedish, but means "Wishing you happiness on your birthday". This stamp was from Bildmalarna before they closed their business. Before we left the UK, I visited my pal in Sweden to celebrate her birthday and bought her a birthday banner which she just loves and the Wonder Woman image on this card so made me think of that. The black strip of paper on this card reads 'Keep calm and carry on' which was a hat tip to our London years.

Thanks for stopping in to visit today. I hope you'll come and share your creations inspired by the wonderful women in your life. We look forward so much to seeing what you're inspired to create. Be sure to stop in to the blog to see what my crazy talented teamies got up to for this challenge, there are some fantastic creations all with a different take on the theme, love the diversity we all brought to this theme.

I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, in the meantime, I wish you a wonderful weekend and happy crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo

Your friend sounds like an amazing woman Wends and I love the cards you have created for her, I'm sure she does too! It's always lovely to receive a card knowing that the sender was thinking of you whilst creating it!
I agree with you about the snail mail too, it's nice to hear from a friend via email but there's something special about receiving a 'real' letter!
xx
What a wonderful tribute to your 'Bestie' - Love the sassy comment on the top card :)
Blessings
