Whimsy Stamps ~ Froggie Love
Hey there crafty pals. I'm swinging in today with an extra post to share a super fun colour along I did with Rhea from Passionate Paper Creations and Crissy Armstrong, artist extraordinaire for Whimsy Stamps. The colour along was using one of Crissy's adorable images and Rhea then did the background for it. It was such a fun colour along and I am SO happy with how mine looked at the end of it!
I didn't have all the Copic colours for this colouring. I had to use alternates for the water and the tulips but I just love the finished look. I chose to use red for the tulips, as I didn't have the yellows Crissy used in her colouring, but I really like how the red looks on the tulips.
I coloured the frogs first along with Crissy and boy does she know how to lay down the colour! Such a great tutorial on the cast shadows and light source. I really enjoyed it! I had yet to decide my tulip colours at this stage, but you can see the work in progress.
I added the background along with Rhea's tutorial and that was fab too. I LOVE how the grass came out and I so want to try this again! But I have to say the bricks may just be my favourite technique! It was so clever and actually so incredibly easy! I was so worried I was going to mess something up, but even though my finished piece looks nothing like either Rhea's or Crissy's, I absolutely love it and had such fun giving it a go!
The only thing left to do after all that fabulous fun colouring, was to create the card and as I didn't want to loose too much of the background I'd coloured, I cut a large mat that fit in as much of the colouring as possible and then a smaller one within that, which I popped up on foam for a bit of dimension and interest. I added it to a dark green mat to anchor the design and then all that it needed then was a sentiment. I love the fabulous Whimsy Stamps sentiment set Bold Statements, it had the perfect sentiment for this sweet pair. I think it finishes the card perfectly.
Thanks for popping in today and I hope you enjoyed seeing this crafty adventure. I'll be back soon with another one, in the meantime, be sure to stop by the Whimsy Stamps Facebook page where this fabulous tutorial is free to view and come colour along with us! Hugs xoxo
