Whimsy Stamps ~ Sweet Poinsettia Fairy

Merry Christmas crafty pals! It's officially Christmas everywhere! We've had the most wonderful Christmas day shared with family and full of laughter and love. I hope you're surrounded by those you love and are able to share some wonderful Christmas moments today. If you are not, then I send you extra big hugs and wishes that you will soon see those special people again. I have dear friends who have lost loved ones this year, so I spare a very special thought of love and support for you, as Christmas can feel a little empty without those precious people! I have family in hospital today, so am very aware than not everyone's Christmas will be perfect.

I loved making this sweet Christmas creation. The fairy is absolutely enchanting. Poinsettia are so lovely and are everywhere in New Zealand as Christmas draws near, so she's a perfect wee fairy for Christmas! I coloured her up with my Copic Markers and added a gentle background by dotting a couple of shades of pale BG markers around her.

I needed a little something behind the image to mat it, so it stood out on the gorgeous patterned paper. This is a simple trick if paper has a dominant pattern, to just break it up a bit and allow the eye to be drawn to the image. So I found a chipboard frame and painted it a pearly silver colour. This worked so well with the paper, as it echoed the berry and leaves. I really love the silvery sheen it added to the design. I added a red organza ribbon for a little extra finishing touch, but otherwise kept things quite simple. A touch of sparkle to the wings and this cutie was done!

I hope you're enjoying your Christmas Day. It's now evening here, the kiddos are all tuckered out ready for a big sleep! So I'm catching up on sharing my last couple of Christmas creations for this year. Yes, I still have more to share! I'm so sad not to have got a single Christmas card posted this year, despite having several created. Life just kinda sped up this past couple of months and my attention was taken to family that needed help, so my Christmas preparation was totally derailed. But that's just how things roll sometimes and actually, is not surprising really with the way this year has gone! But I did want to wish all my lovely crafty pals the happiest of Christmas celebrations. Thinking of you and sending happy Christmas wishes to you all xoxo
